I am unsure why this book failed to catch my attention. Scott Turow writes startlingly realistic dialogue, interesting characters, and legitimately unsurpassed description. This entry in the 'Kindle County' series of Legal Thrillers demonstrates those skills in spades.
Unfortunately, protagonist 'Mack Malloy' is distinctly unlikable.. and the plot involves so many unethical/insupportable moves celebrated as "ingenius", that it paints a horribly dreary picture of humanity😔. Perhaps that's why I found my mind wandering annoyingly frequently while listening to the book (I frankly couldn't care less what happened to any of these people).

I definitely can't complain about the presentation, however. Reader Robert Petkoff turns in a tour-de-force performance: reading with unimpeachable diction, timbre, cadence, pacing, and voice-acting. His tone, in particular, stands out, however. Petkoff displays a near-psychic understanding of the author's intentions. I would listen to more from Mr. Petkoff any day.

Altogether, this audiobook merits a somewhat disappointing 6 stars out of 10. I wish that Turow could have included some of his signature mind's-eye vivid courtroom drama in the story somehow - but 'Pleading Guilty' is at least a "decent" example of his writing skills. Your Credit might be better spent on another of his offerings,.. but you wouldn't be crazy to invest it on this one.
