Publisher's Summary

A routine commercial flight disappears over the North Pole. No wreckage. No transponder signals.

Mitch Matthews is writer struggling to make ends meet when his wife's brother offers them a first-class seat on a flight from Hong Kong to New York. When his wife needs to stay behind, it becomes an opportunity for some quality daddy-daughter time with his five-year-old Lilly. At check-in, they run into a strange Norwegian arguing with a huge Russian. A mysterious redhead is guarding a package in the business lounge. But everything is fine...right up until the event.

Within hours of Allied Airlines 695 disappearing, a massive international search is launched. Aircraft and ships are dispatched from Russia, America, Canada, and Norway. How can a modern airliner simply vanish in one of the most heavily monitored places on Earth?

Global tensions rise. The media and grieving families whip into a frenzy. The armed forces of America and Russia tip the world toward the brink of an apocalyptic war.

Weeks later, found on the ice in a chance discovery, the journal of Mitch Matthews reveals the incredible truth behind the disappearance of Allied 695, and what really happened in the Polar Vortex.

The narrator was very good

This was a fun book to listen to. Good mystery, interesting facts and the narrator was great to listen to. Not an edge of your seat story but an easy listen.

Terrifying and awesome

Wow what a story! Terrifying and awesome at the same time. My first novel from Mr Mather, and hopefully not the last, what an amazing story teller. And the narrator Tom Taylorson was excellent!!! He had me biting my nails, at the edge of my seat with his narration. I recommend this book, worth the credit.

An adventure into survival and love

This story was amazing to listen to, great narration and incredible drama. The author weaves a plausible story about a group of survivors in a most inhospitable area of the world and that is Canada’s north. The journey begins in Hong Kong and ends in Alert, Nunavut which is the most northerly occupied town in the world. Mitch and his daughter Lily are aboard this flight and throughout this harrowing journey we discover how far a father will go to save his daughter.

Loved this story

I couldn’t stop listening. Intriguing characters, lots of action and a whodunnit that kept me guessing until the end. If you like thriller/mysteries and get a kick out of a good survival story you’ll love this book.
Hats off to the narrator, who is a master of foreign accents. Loved it!

CSIS of Canada is pronounced Sea-Sis...

CSIS of Canada is pronounced Sea-Sis... not the individual lettering CSIS.

Good book. Glad to hear Canada is a friendly nation, eh?

Two thumbs up

I genuinely liked that story. Intrigue, mystery, action, and excitement. The characters were well crafted, and it was easy to become invested in them. Narrator voice and delivery were excellent.

Worthy read

Great character development, lots of twists and turns in the story that will leave you guessing right up until the final chapter. The story unravels appropriately, you don’t have to wait till the last chapter to find everything out.
