About this listen
Predator ships stream into human space in unprecedented numbers. The Colonial Marines, controlled by Weyland-Yutani, respond to the incursion, thus entering the Rage War. This terrifying assault by the Yautja cannot go unchallenged, yet the cost of combat is high.
Predators are master combatants, and each encounter yields a high body count. Then, when Lt. Johnny Mains and his marines - the VoidLarks - enter the fray, they discover an enemy deadlier than any could imagine.
Audiobook one in an epic trilogy that continues in Alien: Invasion and concludes in Aliens vs. Predator: Armageddon. The universe will forever be changed.
Tim Lebbon is the New York Times best-selling author of the movie novelisations of 30 Days of Night and The Cabin in the Woods.
He has also written many critically acclaimed horror and dark fantasy novels. Tim has won three British Fantasy Awards, a Bram Stoker Award, a Shocker and a Tombstone and been a finalist for the International Horror Guild and World Fantasy Awards.

So much buildup
The action you get is great, the plot itself is fine--but it is difficult to follow with all of the jumping between character perspectives...

Good as an fan of the alien and predator movies.
overall the book was good. little jumpy and hard to follow off the start. I found the narration a little monotone with the narrator only using about 2 different voices for for every character in the book. by the end of the book the storyline pulls you in and you are wanting to listen to the next one.

Effective Set-Up Novel
This book was clearly intended as the first book in a Trilogy. Tim Lebbon relates the beginnings of a conflict between Weyland-Yutani-affiliated Colonial Marines and Yautja forces. The combat is described nicely - and Lebbon's experience writing horror is on full display - but it's not scripted terribly well and serves more as a plot device than a focus for the book (don't expect to be blown away with Action).
As to presentation: The sound quality from Audible Studios Inc. engineers is outstanding. Less fortunately, reader John Chancer includes a few cartoonish female character interpretations in his catalog of voices. To be certain, his diction, cadence, pacing, and tone are spot-on.. but his gravelly (+/- occasionally sibilant) reading timbre gets to be irritating after a few hours, and that character repertoire..
In toto this is a quality but "average" audiobook.
In toto, 'Predator: Incursion' does a great job introducing central characters & major players in the 'Rift War' series.. but doesn't provide much standalone merit. It rates 7/10 stars: worth your time but not worth a Credit unless you plan on consuming the entire excellent series.
[Incidentally: I quite like the innovation of Xenomorphs exploding when they die or are fatally injured. A deadly/destructive AOE Acid Burst is pretty cool]

A Good Setup for a Better Story
This novel really finds its footing by the final chapters, only to end on a bit of a cliffhanger. The next entry in the series will benefit from the slow, sometimes circular, build up of this book.
The narrator uses the same voice for women and children which is something that I find very grating. It makes otherwise strong and intelligent female characters sound weak and stupid to me.
