Wear just 33 items for 3 months and get back all the JOY you were missing while you were worrying what to wear.

In Project 333, minimalist expert and author of Soulful Simplicity Courtney Carver takes a new approach to living simply--starting with your wardrobe. Project 333 promises that not only can you survive with just 33 items in your closet for 3 months, but you'll thrive just like the thousands of woman who have taken on the challenge and never looked back. Let the de-cluttering begin!

Ever ask yourself how many of the items in your closet you actually wear? In search of a way to pare down on her expensive shopping habit, consistent lack of satisfaction with her purchases, and ever-growing closet, Carver created Project 333. In this book, she guides readers through their closets item-by-item, sifting through all the emotional baggage associated with those oh-so strappy high-heel sandals that cost a fortune but destroy your feet every time you walk more than a few steps to that extensive collection of never-worn little black dresses, to locate the items that actually look and feel like you. As Carver reveals in this book, once we finally release ourselves from the cyclical nature of consumerism and focus less on our shoes and more on our self-care, we not only look great we feel great-- and we can see a clear path to make other important changes in our lives that reach far beyond our closets. With tips, solutions, and a closet-full of inspiration, this life-changing minimalist manual shows readers that we are so much more than what we wear, and that who we are and what we have is so much more than enough.

I’m a huge fan of Courtney Carver - I’ve been following her for several years and really enjoyed her last book, Soulful Simplicity, and read it a few times and listen to her podcast. There was definitely a lot of repeat in her message as well as the process - I could see this being unavoidable when extracting something and making it into something more tangible.

Although I am very familiar with Project 333, I think more time spent on the actual process would have been better. Although this book touches on a few practical issues about simplifying a wardrobe, grand detail for several more life scenarios could have served a person familiar with Carver’s work. Not having looked at the book itself, I’m not entirely sure if there are charts or diagrams that could have made this a bit more useful.

Although this is an amazing jumping off point for someone new to the scene, a person who is in the process and experiencing a rut may not get the same push. I’ll most likely have another listen because the overall message is still important and that should be the main takeaway.

Great for someone who needs a bit of a boost

This book is much more about minimalism and overcoming overconsumption and habitual overshopping than it is about the practicalities of the capsule wardrobe side of Project 333 - or at least that's how it felt. Almost every chapter heading mentions Project 333, but I almost abandoned the book numerous times because I felt the wardrobe part of Project 333 was largely absent. It wasn't until nearly halfway through that the book started to be what I expected and even then felt a bit light on substance. If I'd come in with the expectation this was a book about minimalism, I would have given it 5 stars. If you're just interested in the mechanics of a capsule wardrobe and the rules of Project 333, go read Courtney's blog post about it or watch a video. If you want a broader look about how our wardrobes and shopping impact our lives and the world and how to move toward minimalism, get this book. It manages to be both concise and comprehensive, has lots of practical exercises, suggestions and thought experiments - and making it all feel manageable. I'm super happy Courtney narrated this book - she was great!

Minimalism more than wardrobe challenge

So much preamble, so little about the actual clothing aspect. I was disappointed. Content could have been much stronger.
