About this listen

I should know better than to let Tessa McDaniels pretend to be my fiancée.

I’m a dark, dangerous disaster who leaves destruction in his wake.

But when she offers to pretend to marry me to help me get my kids back, I can’t refuse. They are the one thing I have left to fight for.

Milo Hendricks found me at my lowest.

Battered and broken by my ex with no place to call home. When he insists I stay at his cabin with him, he sparks the feelings I’ve tried to suppress.

He’s only supposed to be my friend, but every time he comes in the room, he makes my knees weak.

This gorgeous, tatted, mountain of a man who’s riddled with secrets.

Tessa is everything I crave but can’t have.

I shouldn’t touch her. Shouldn’t make it real. But she’s a redheaded flame I can’t resist, and I can’t help but take her to my bed.

Now we’re falling into an abyss of passion and need.

Loving her is easy. Only we’re tied in ways we don’t know.

I’ll do anything to protect her, but it’s my past that might destroy her in the end....

We make a good team 🤍

Sometimes it’s the people who are the most bubbly and happy, who keep things light and try and make everyone around them smile and laugh that carry the greatest weights. Tessa was this person. Always joking, seeming to be so self-assured and at times a little crazy. But carrying a weight that you would never know about it. Tessa before this book was loud, getting into everyone’s business, and often portrayed to be a bit crazy. She had a terrible boyfriend that no one hated and I couldn’t understand that for a woman who was all about finding your ace and enjoying your cake, why she remained with a man who didn’t even seem to necessarily like her. I wasn’t really a fan of Tessa until this book as it really showed a completely different side to her making me love and appreciate her crazy antics so much more.
Milo Hendrix is this big tough guy who generally doesn’t say much. He has a dark past and doesn’t feel deserving of the good things in life. There was so much more to him then meets the eye in previous books.
This book was emotional, captivating and consuming. It tugged at my heart strings as they tried to get custody of his kids back. Their journey was hard, strained and sometimes completely heartbreaking, but I think it meant that much more when they finally got their happily ever after.
The narrators on this book were so good at bringing Milo and Tessa to life. The female narrator captured Tessa so well. The way she could start a thought or sentence bubbly and full of life and end sounding nervous and unsure of herself. She did a fantastic job at bringing Tessa’s character to life.
I definitely have mad, mad love for this book 🤍
