About this listen
Go beyond the original Shondaland series on Netflix, Queen Charlotte, with this lushly romantic Bridgerton prequel novel written by New York Times bestselling authors Julia Quinn and Shonda Rhimes as the marriage of Queen Charlotte and King George of England leads to an unexpected love story and a union that transforms society.
In 1761, on a sunny day in September, a King and Queen met for the very first time. They were married within hours.
Born a German Princess, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was beautiful, headstrong, and fiercely intelligent… not precisely the attributes the British Court had been seeking in a spouse for the young King George III. But her fire and independence were exactly what she, and her King, needed.
Because George has secrets… secrets with the potential to shake the very foundations of the monarchy.
Thrust into her new role, Charlotte must navigate the intricate politics of the court—with the newly-titled Lady Danbury at her side—all the while guarding her heart, because she is falling in love with the King…even as he pushes her away. Now, Charlotte must learn to rule, and to understand that she has been given the power to remake society, fulfilling her destiny as Queen. But she also has to fight for the love growing between her and George as people first, royals second. As she says to him: “Fight with me! Fight for me!”

After being a soldier, working as a bodyguard should have been simple: Keep the owner of DC’s ultra-secret club safe, don’t think about his midnight eyes or his devil’s smile, don’t surrender my body to his wicked desires. But I underestimated Mark Trevena and the power of his dark, seductive world. I underestimated the hold he’d have on me, the way I would do anything for him at all. And so when he asks me to escort his soon-to-be bride home, I can only—miserably, broken-heartedly–say yes.

The Prequel is the best!
I have enjoyed the 8 other Bridgerton books that I have read, but this prequel is by far the best of the lot! Other than the pre wedding garden scene ( which reminded me of Camelot), it seems completely original. Meaning not using a predictable formula. I enjoyed the narration by Natalie Simpson as well.
Highly recommend!

Tellement bon roman

Pretty good, but nearly ruined by the advertising
the story overall is good... I wanted to read the book before I watched the Netflix show. the advertising for the show, unfortunately, gave away much of the plot points. the Narrator is fair, though the male voices are muddled together.

I couldn’t stop listening to this audiobook
Val G.F.
Julia Quinn and Shonda Rhimes outdid themselves. This was so interesting and kept me wanting more. I wish I could have had more of Charlotte’s experience while coping with George’s disability, but I know it would have made the book too long. After enjoying all the Bridgerton books, it was the icing on the cake for me. Congratulations Authors!

It’s even better than the show!
Oh my godddddd, it’s so much more in depth than the show (I’m stating the obvious haha), like there were scenes and things I didn’t know of when watching the show, and this book just explained and gave reasonings behind everything!!! You hear, listen, understand their thoughts and actions—it just goes far more into detail than the show. Ever since their netflix trailer was released, they’ve been on my mind throughout. I seriously fear I’ll never get over them.😭 Shonda girllllll you outdid yourself😫👏👏

All the feels 🥹
I binged the show the first day it came out and was incredibly excited when I learned there would be a book - a book where I’d get to learn more of their inner perspectives and I wasn’t left disappointed. I absolutely loved this story from start to end, whether it be the show or the book and the book and show followed each other almost 100%, if not 100%! These are two of my favourite fictional-non-fictional characters ever. If only I could hear more of their love story over the years, even the hard parts when his madness started to take over more - it would just make me love them even more than I already do! Excellent storytelling! Thank you to the authors for creating this beautiful story!

Beautiful Story
This story touched my heart. It was heart wrenching to see/hear George's futile attempts to get well; distressed at that quack that called himself a doctor (the writer should have given him some of his own "medicine" before having him be-headed). I was so touched at Charlotte's love and bravery and her loyalty to stand by her husband. This story had me crying a few tears and thinking about it days afterwards. I had to be telling myself it was just a story, let it go!!
