Story
Over the last fifty years, women have made extraordinary advances in athletics. More women than ever are playing sports and staying active longer. Whether they’re elite athletes looking for an edge or enthusiastic amateurs, women deserve a culture of sports that helps them thrive: training programs and equipment designed to work with their bodies, as well as guidelines for nutrition and injury prevention that are based in science and tailored to their lived experience. Yet too often the guidance women receive is based on research that fails to consider their experiences or their bodies.

Story
Lauren Fleshman has grown up in the world of running. One of the most decorated collegiate athletes of all time and a national champion as a pro, she was a major face of women’s running for Nike before leaving to shake up the industry with feminist running brand Oiselle and now coaches elite young female runners. Every step of the way, she has seen the way that our sports systems—originally designed by men, for men and boys—fail young women and girls as much as empower them. Written with heart and verve, Good for a Girl is a joyful love letter to the running life.

incredible book!
I absolutely love this book and will recommend any female athlete to read it. it teaches about so much of our anatomy and physiology, but we should and shouldn't be doing when it comes to sports nutrition training, menstrual cycles etc. it is fascinating and I took away so much from it!

Thorough and educational
I enjoyed this read as I learned new things about myself and my training. It’s good to have a reference for women, the internet is too vast. I even bought a hard copy of this book to read and highlight.

Great for professional athletes!
The focus of this book was primarily for professional or intense athletes or at least people training on a level beyond mine. If you are someone who is just looking to be fit/heathy and don’t compete- you might find that there is a fair amount of the book that does not pertain to you. Having said that, I would be very interested in a book by this author that was more geared to your average person and/or one just focused on post menopausal women who want to be fit. She delivers scientific information in a way that is easily understood.

I wish I knew this before
This is invaluable information for every woman athlete, of any level. I also got a paper copy of this book, which is a must if one actually intends to use the advice. The audible version is a great companion to the hard copy and gives you a great overview of what s init, while you are doing a workout as most of the readers of this likely don't spend much time sitting with a book.

So Much Information
As a woman in a very physical male dominated work industry, this book helped me understand why my body doesn't function the same way as men's bodies do. I injure myself a lot less than I used to. I am so grateful for the information in here.
