About this listen
The first edition of Radical Honesty became a nationwide best seller in 1995 because it was not a kinder, gentler self-help book. It was a shocker! In it, Dr. Brad Blanton, a psychotherapist and expert on stress management, explored the myths, superstitions and lies by which we all live. And this newly revised edition is even worse!
Blanton shows us how stress comes not from the environment, but from the self-built jail of the mind. What keeps us in our self-built jails is lying.
"We all lie like hell," Dr. Blanton says. "It wears us out...it is the major source of all human stress. It kills us." Not telling our friends, lovers, spouses, or bosses about what we do, feel, or think keeps us locked in that mind jail. The way out is to get good at telling the truth, and Dr. Blanton provides the tools we can use to escape from that jail of the mind. This book is the cake with the file in it.
In Radical Honesty, Dr. Blanton coaches us on how to have lives that work, how to have relationships that are alive and passionate, and how to create intimacy where none exists. As we have been taught by the philosophical and spiritual sources of our culture for thousands of years, from Plato to Nietzsche, from the Bible to Emerson, the truth shall set you free.

The background noise takes away from this book
I'm only through the introduction and I'm having a hard time focusing on the edited paragraphs that sometimes contain multiple audio clips with different tones, volume, speech manner and even background noise (some white noise, some no noise, some high pitch whining, some like a vacuum far away)
I will reedit for the story once I'm done with the book. The introduction speaks of the narrator wanting to do things and not do them perfectly, and maybe I'm too high standards, but I feel this is objectively the worst narration experience I've had on audible so far.

Terrible recording
Well as the book title calls it, Radical Honesty - the author is radically honest about what he believes. Good insight about becoming honest to improve relationships, but beyond that it was a tough listen. Gave up 2 hours towards the end. The recording was terrible. In fact, I would say this is the worst recording I have heard seen on Audible. If it was not for actual wisdom related to the book somewhere in the middle, I would have given up earlier.

Good content, bad delivery
I don't especially like reading, but I wish I read this one instead of listening to it. The content is highly valuable but the recording is dismal.

A difficult book
I hope I got the message: be honest, tell the truth, be present. Otherwise, some examples from the book are somewhat murky, especially the poems and quotes closer to the end. The narration is quite atmospheric, as if you are sitting on a session in Brad's cabinet. Although, sometimes I had a feeling that Brad was high when narrating😅, and there were also quite a few sound problems. This book is a strong psychological peace, it tests your level of "moralism", challenges your open-mindedness. Sometimes I, however, had an aftertaste of nihilistic hedonism. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this book but it is worthy of attention. Even now I am writing truthfully and scoring not 5 stars as I am often inclined to do. See/listen for yourself!

Good Content, Difficult to listen
The audio for this book is trash, it’s not his accent that makes it a bad listen it’s the overall sound quality and coughs.

Unlistenable
The recording is painful to the ears due to random high tones. It happens often enough to break your concentration over and over again, so I ordered the book instead.

painful!
struggled to listen! worst read audio book I have ever encountered . Very poor quality. The narrator coughs, sneezes, laughs throughout the book. It's as as if the book is being read underground. I am unable rate the content, wish I could as this was highly recommended. There are too many distractions to grasp the content.
Please please remove from your catalog until its re-read. This is unacceptable.
