For a moment Wilson froze and looked at the white-helmeted pilot who sat high on the nose of the colossal fighter. Across the small void, he saw the pilot's eyes peer over his mask. Dark, chilling eyes. Wilson kicked right rudder to slide closer and jam any chance for a bandit gunshot. When the bandit pulled all the way over, almost on its back but in control, he cursed in frustration at what he knew was coming next. The hostile fighter reversed over the top in a negative-g maneuver, his nose tracking down on Wilson like a falling sledgehammer in slow motion. Horrified, Wilson realized he faced an imminent snapshot. With the little air speed he had, he inverted his Hornet to avoid the attack. His aircraft still rolling, Wilson saw that the monster had another weapon at its disposal.

Great story
If you enjoy realistic naval aviation & combat then this book is for you.
A great story, interesting well developed characters and well written descriptions of aireal combat. Very much in the genre of Viper Pilot, though fictional.

it was great to hear how a pilot thinks.
I loved all of the flying parts of the book. it was a real joy. I struggled a bit with the female pilots characters. the men thought about flying in their spare time and the women thought about boys and how they look. it was good of the author to include women in the story but I doubt female warriors are so different from men and even if they are those things don't need to be in a warriors story.

Captivating, adrenaline filled and immersive.
Really enjoyed listen to this. If anyone is tech savvy and into flight simulators, there’s an amazing way to listen to this along side a mission in DCS. The raven one mission for the FA-18 in Digital Combat Simulator goes hand in hand with this book and made the experience both for the book and the game absolutely incredible! Highly suggest doing it if you’re into DCS and flight simulation!

TMI?
LSO, Dutch Roll, line up of attack, negative, Say your needles, Update State, Roger, intercept, LSO, Night adapted, pickle him early, Flight Deck Boson, Pitching deck, Barricade, cat see. 406……..that’s all said within eight bloody minutes!, REALLY? If I wanted to learn how to land a bloody Hornet on an Aircraft Carrier I’d love this book. As it is this is an extremely boring audio book with WTMI. Way Too Much Information! A pilot would love this I’m sure so I have to give it a medium rating, the narration is first rate!
