About this listen
Discover the Raw and Hidden Truth Behind the Music
In her gripping memoir Reason to Sing, Kelita Haverland pulls back the curtain on shocking truths behind her vibrant public persona. Known for her country music hits and unforgettable comedic characters, Kelita's life has been a rollercoaster of heartbreak, resilience, and redemption.
"It's taken me over twenty years to get this thing right," Kelita confesses. With raw honesty, she exposes scandalous family secrets and the emotional turmoil that shaped her life. From incest and suicide to drug addiction, betrayal, and the tragic loss of three siblings, Kelita's story is a testament to the power of survival.
"For years, I hid behind fake smiles and self-constructed walls of shame," she admits. "But I realized that to truly heal, I had to be brutally honest—not just for myself, but for anyone who might find strength in my story."
Reason to Sing isn’t just about adversity. It's a tale of love, faith, adventure, and ultimate triumph. Kelita’s journey from a small-town ranch girl to a big-city performer, and finally, a woman of deep faith, is told with unfiltered candor and the wit of a true entertainer.
Kelita’s memoir offers an intimate glimpse into the heart and soul of a woman who found her voice through music and perseverance.

Excellent voice. Easy to listen to
Powerful. At times heart wrenching and hard to continue. Non fiction that validates many people in their own struggles. I applaud Kelita’s courage in sharing her biography.

I couldn’t stop listening!
I was completely absorbed in the gripping narrative. The experiences shared in this memoir are beyond anything most people could endure in a lifetime, let alone in 10 lifetimes. The raw honesty with which the author recounts her journey through trauma, betrayal, and abuse is both heart wrenching and awe inspiring. The way she navigated such extreme hard ships with resilience and courage left me deeply moved.

Wow! Bravery
Kelita shares so many personal moments, deep ones too. She shares them like she’s telling her best friend. Her voice is calm and brings a peace when listening to her story, making you feel like your right beside her. The moments of fear, selflessness, and bravery all stood out. She owns her mistakes and makes you feel like you’re not alone in your own journey of life. The book was beautifully written. Great read! Definitely would listen again.
