Getting a bit stale

This series is relaxing. The main character doesn't want to be a hero or establish a harem, just make money, be happy, and find soda. And life is pretty good as of book 8. There's no real conflict in this book. That's not particularly new, but usually there's something - here, the closest we get is some hand to hand action on a planet. It feels like each book has had a big reveal, or a new addition to the crew, or a chance for Hiro to do something amazing and see the reactions of the people around him, and...this book didn't. It's not out of character, but when the book announced the epilogue I was taken aback - I was still waiting for a climax. If you've gotten this far in the series, you probably don't mind. It still has the usual elements that make this series charming, just...not as much.
