About this listen
The author of Alice takes listeners back down the rabbit hole to a dark, twisted, and fascinating world based on the works of Lewis Carroll.
The land outside of the Old City was supposed to be green, lush, hopeful. A place where Alice could finally rest, no longer the plaything of the Rabbit, the pawn of Cheshire, or the prey of the Jabberwocky. But the verdant fields are nothing but ash - and hope is nowhere to be found.
Still, Alice and Hatcher are on a mission to find his daughter, a quest they will not forsake even as it takes them deep into the clutches of the mad White Queen and her goblin or into the realm of the twisted and cruel Black King. The pieces are set, and the game has already begun. Each move brings Alice closer to her destiny. But to win she will need to harness her newfound abilities and ally herself with someone even more powerful - the mysterious and vengeful Red Queen.

Further down the rabbit hole
A mastery sequel to match the pace of the first book in the series. Adding more inquisitive prompts into the beautifully depicted world of corruption and horror that Alice experiences. A refreshing take on the classic and I can't wait to start the third installment.

Delightful feast of descriptions
Some minor continuity issues that are quite easy to dismiss if you are listening just for the pleasure of a story. Rich and vivid descriptions of almost everything possible. A welcome escape from our mundane reality.

A Worthy Sequel
Having very much enjoyed Alice, this had a high bar to hit. Not quite as good as Alice, but still enjoyable and a fitting conclusion. More fairy tale than Wonderland.

just get on with it
I wanted to love this and tried to listen to it many times. I looooved the Lost Boy book which led me to this series my the same author. The Lost Boy narrator was amazing. The first book in this series was quite good, but I found the narrator a little difficult to listen to. This book was so so overly filled with needless description that it seemed to drag on not really going anywhere....that made it even more difficult to listen to the narrator. I have two hours left in the book and I just can't do it. An overdramatic teen may enjoy it, but it is not for me ..... and not for lack of trying. I highly recommend Lost Boy though. Maybe I will get back to finishing this, but I highly doubt it.
