About this listen

New York Times bestselling author Meghan March returns to the world of the cult-favorite and unforgettable anti-hero, Lachlan Mount.

My daughter was kidnapped.
My sanctuary violated.
My best friend murdered.
My empire is crumbling before my very eyes.
There’s no retirement plan for the boogeyman.
I never cared about that before.
Now that I have a family, everything is different.
I can never put my daughter at risk again.
I don’t want this life for her.
But I can’t undo the things that I’ve done.
I can’t bring back the lives I’ve taken.
Everyone knows Lachlan Mount doesn’t deserve a second chance.
But maybe—just maybe—a man like me can still find redemption.

Unexcept but still Amazing

Even though there was no sexy scenes in this story. Which to be honest was a little disappointing since those scenes between Mount and Kiera where always super steamy. I still thought the overall story was really good. This book may not be for everyone it's different from other book within this series but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the ending and how it all wrapped.

Maybe pass on this if you are a Mount and k Keria fan

Its like Maghan March completely forgot that Mount and Keria had very well developed personalities, and created sub-par version of them. I cringed through most of the book, there is no sexy heat between Mount and Keria or sex at all in this book. The only action is in the last 30 mins of the book, the rest is just Mount being emotional and crying!

I think the direction she took the story was interesting, but the character protrayal was not true to the back story at all.

Not an ending I will soon forget

I love Meaghan March and every book and series she has written. So many of them I have listened to multiple times. I know that she had taken a break from writing women's fiction lately and this is the first one she has released for quite some time (not including the children's book and 2 non-fiction books). While I am glad to see the rest of Kierra and Mounts story told, I must admit I was more than a little disappointed in this book. MM is quite well known for her ability to write some of the best s3xy scenes I've ever read/listened to. This book is basically PG. There wasn't a single hot romance scene in the entire book (sorry for the spoiler!) Given the type of relationship between Mount and Kierra in the previous trilogy, I would have thought it would be a given to have a few of those interactions in this book. After waiting so long for a MM romance to come out, this book left me feeling like something huge was missing from it. For a book that is supposed to be a romance, there was way too much dialogue with other people and not nearly enough between the two main characters. Sorry. This is not my favorite book. While I will take the time to listen to so many of her other books over and over again, this book I will not. I'm all honesty, I don't even think this particular book falls into the category of romance, simply "fiction" is the most I would rate it. Right from the very first chapter, Mount was not Mount. It was like invasion of the body snatchers. There was absolutely no resemblance at all the the man we met in all the previous books. The character changed so fast and to such a different personality, it wasn't as believable or convincing as other character development in previous books. Also, I felt like there was thus huge lead-up to the ending of the book and then when it happens, it is over in the snap of your fingers. The book was slow moving the entire way and the usual cliffhangers and tension within the book were not up to the high standards we have come to expect from MM. Other than one item, the book was predictable and the one thing that was not predictable happened so early in the book, there was only one path for the characters to take. The "climax " (if you want to call it that) was also predictable and one she used in 2 of her other books (who knew Mount and Keirra amd were from NOLA and was actually Keirra's best friend). The end of the book left a number of loose ends and things to be dealt with, while at the same time not interesting enough for me to want another book in this series or leaving the audience wanting more. There are so many characters from previous books in this series (and from other books that took place e in NOLA) who could have "shown up" or assisted in this story to make it deeper or connect to the audience, but that didn't happen either.

Good but different than her usual book

This is a solid book and well narrated. The beginning of the book was a bit over dramatic. Sometimes less is more with character development and a character emoting while dealing with a stressful situation. Nevertheless, the book was solid. It just didn't have the usual steam. It was worth the credit. I, however, hope Meghan March has more of those steamy ,intriguing and witty stories to share with us readers / listeners.
