About this listen

Brought together by fate, torn apart by family.

Rachel Tregarrak, Penwith pack beta and daughter of the alpha, has always called the rugged Cornish coast her home. With its beautiful landscapes, bracing sea air, and vast spaces to run, she can't imagine living anywhere else.

After years of living with her mother in her grandfather's pack, Sara Gallen returns to Penzance to be with her alpha father and her brothers. She wants to build their relationships, get to know the rest of her family better than occasional visits allow.

When their paths cross on the full moon, the attraction is immediate and instinctive. But Sara's father refuses to allow such a union and forbids any further contact. Sara finds solace with her grandmother in her alpha council residence, and Rachel is sent to a London pack to keep her out of trouble. Both women feel the desperate ache of an uncompleted bond, but unless they find a way to be together, it'll fade to nothing and their connection will be lost.

Contains mature themes.

Utter disappointment.

This book was a sapphic retelling of 'The Little Mermaid's and I have never felt closer to King Triton.
The author's portrayal of female rage is Clueless and I mean that as both a pop culture reference and LITERALLY.
Don't waste money on this, wait until it's free.

I was really excited for this audiobook. I was excited for bad ass werewolf ladies and instead I got hyper femme Beverly Hills meets Jane Austen.

Let me begin by giving you a run down of the series.
Book one, the main character accidentally bites, knocks unconscious, jacks off and pees on his love interest in a hilarious series of unfortunate events.
He is fiercely protective and possessive of his mate.
Book two, the mold mannered doctor werewolf because a hissing, spitting pure bred French bull dog full of territorial hormones and soft Dom energy.
Book Three has a Beta who takes what he wants and doesn't GAF and a dude who actively wants to stick it to the man, that ends up with them full on fighting everyone. Good guys, bad guys, the alpha, each other.
Book Four the Alpha tosses dudes like rag dolls, bites his mate under the full moon IN THE PARK and tears out his rival's larynx with his teeth.

Then there's this book.
The two women literally spend thirty minutes with one another, decide it's meant to be and spend five hours of confusing Audible audio languishing about while everyone except for one of the dad's reassures them everything will be ok!!
There's no possessiveness. There's NO chemistry and the one moment where one of the female leads shifts into super protector dog mode she is immediately quelled and submissive to the alpha by his 'calm voice'....

Are you JOKING?!
ELIZABETH BENNET had more sass in Pride and Prejudice and that was published in 1813!!!
This audio book was recorded in 2021!!
Scarlett O'Hara would never!
I was expecting Xena Warrior Princess and I got Glenda from the Wicked Musical.

Then there's the so called 'spicy' content that basically happened in the weirdest most unexpected moments, was lackluster and mostly an after thought as thought the author felt they HAD to provide it but didn't want to. Neither woman showed the kind of desperation any of the other couples had before or after the 'Bite' and the final moment of the bite WAS EIGHT MINUTES BEFORE THE END OF THE BOOK.

Where's the fierce, territorial female shifters Annabelle?
Your MC spent the whole book proclaiming they were more than a brooding mare but you wrote them with the same kind of presence as Tauriel in the Hobbit Book.
If you didn't get that reference, TAURIEL WASN'T IN THE BOOK.

Now we're gonna look at the Narrator's performance.
I honestly can't tell you what made me more frustrated while listening to this audio book. The story or the acting.
First of all you didn't even have the decency to get a female VA for the female points of view, which is frustrating enough, but male narrator hasn't improved at all between recording five books and any other work he might have gotten(which I doubt was much).
Add to the fact the the scale of inflection in his voice looks like the globe in a flat Earther's study and it makes for one hell of an excruciating experience.

You can't tell which one of the women is speaking and that INCLUDES the grandmother and the head of the alpha council and the only time I felt any emotion other than frustration while listing, was when I laughed out loud at my work desk at the line
"Stop!" she cried"
Spoken with the whisper soft cry of a new born kitten.

The male Narrator's attempt of a woman's voice sounds like the British rendition of every mediocre 'alpha' male comedian's impression of a simpering dainty little flower and I think my ovaries actually burst into flames from how angry I was.

oh! and then there's the blatant double standards of how the Alpha Newell was sentenced to ten years in prison for basically trying to plan a coup and attacking a member of another pack, but the homophobic alpha father of one of the MC's literally tries to turn one of the girl's voice boxes into swiss cheese and fully admitted to attempted Nepotism and he gets 'probation!'

This book and audio book SUCKED and I want my audible credit back.
