About this listen
In this pivotal prequel to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the heroes of the Resistance - Poe Dameron, General Leia Organa, Rey, and Finn - must fight back from the edge of oblivion.
The Resistance is in ruins. In the wake of their harrowing escape from Crait, what was once an army has been reduced to a handful of wounded heroes. Finn, Poe, Rey, Rose, Chewbacca, Leia Organa - their names are famous among the oppressed worlds they fight to liberate. But names can only get you so far, and Leia’s last desperate call for aid has gone unanswered.
From the jungles of Ryloth to the shipyards of Corellia, the shadow of the First Order looms large, and those with the bravery to face the darkness are scattered and isolated. If hope is to survive, the Resistance must journey throughout the galaxy, seeking out more leaders - including those who, in days gone by, helped a nascent rebellion topple an empire. Battles will be fought, alliances will be forged, and the Resistance will be reborn.

On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force - and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy. this should be episode 8 or part of it.
A very good book that fills in what we missed between episode seven and nine.

nice little filler but not much more
I went into this book with an open mind drawing on my passion and love for the star wars franchise.
im not a massive fan of the story of the new trilogy but i do really enjoy its characters and im invested in their journey and im happy to say that after trashing several of them in the last jedi this helps give me back some respect for them.
poe specifically benefits from lots of attention in this book and is voiced very well in my opinion by Mark who with the exception of reys voice puts in another great performance..
all in all the story is meh we get to meet some new characters and we see the rebellion being reborn as the title says through an ok plot but dont expect it to give you much more than that.
i will say The author makes excellent use of what seems to be a small time scale for our characters getting them through their adventures at a quick pace
Enjoy All!

Good performance mediocre story
Story was ok. Has some possibilities. Still better than Black Spire. Still no real stakes just wheel spinning until TROS.

a very worthy lead up to The Rise Od Skywalker. An excellent nod to many of the previous canon novels. All Hail General Organa...Royalty.

good story, but lacks a solid performance
first off I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, the characters are memorial and there is some new cannon characters that make a bigger impact then before... my main focus.. Rey. The Rey in this novel is a moppy soppy mess. nothing like her character in the last jedi. she's also not even in the story. she's a background character which is sad since shea featured on the cover. This is a Poe Dameron story through and through.

Great entertainment, not deep literature
Performed very well, probably the best Audible I've listened to for entertainment. Sorta like a good escapist movie. Plot was not deep and I think may've misrepresented characters compared to movies (Rey especially, though at least here she's not Mary Sue). feels like I'll appreciate it more when Episode 9 comes out n I have a bit more background on some characters.

its mildly interesting to see how the First Order came to seed their power and how the Senate began to lose its hold over the galaxy, but overall disappointing.

Amazing performance of a just fine story
Marc Thomson did an amazing job of narrating the book. The production from music to sound effects was top notch.
Rebecca Roanhorse did a fine job with the piece of the puzzle that the Star Wars story group gave her to fill in.
If you are a big Star Wars fan you should read this, if not you could probably pass.

A good addition to the timeline
This was a very fun little story. I love when a Star Wars novel connects a lot of different stories together, and this one does a great job at that! We get the return of so many great characters from the Original Trilogy as well as Zay Versio and Shriv from Inferno Squad! The narration and voice acting was amazing, as was the music and sound effects. Some characters stole the show for me. Leia, Poe, Finn, Wedge, and Shriv. As well as the villain we get in the background, he was very well written. Slimy and awful, so good! Other characters felt like they were introduced and little was done with them. I also would have loved to see the development of Rey and Leia's relationship more. But this is set almost right after The Last Jedi, so it makes sense that their connection hasn't quite formed yet. But this does do a great job at showing the struggles the Resistence had to go through to rebuild after The Last Jedi. Poe has to redeem himself after his mistakes. All of it is very good and if you want more of any of these characters, then this is a very good read!
