Publisher's Summary

You are no one. Level zero. Empty of mind and memory. Even your past has been stripped from your brain by the inscrutable System.

A long, difficult road lies between you and remembering any part of who you are. A road punctuated with one death after another. You are too puny to survive by might alone. Information is the single resource that might keep you alive, but the brainless “digis” have none of it. Only those with experience can give you what you need, but most care nothing about you or your plight. In fact, some make it their mission to kill you.

So die you will, again and again, your life counter clicking lower and lower. Even the creators do not know what happens when your counter reaches zero, but many are sure that your last life here is just that. No more respawns.

You are not the first player in the world of STYX, and you will not be the last. You can only hope luck will be on your side. The luckiest players are those who find a vulnerability in the System. Those they call cheaters.

Perhaps cheating is the only way to win.

Enjoy your game.

Interesting take on litRPGs

The amnesia angle allowed the author to guide us through certain bits of the story without revealing too much too quickly and kept exposition within a narrow focus with a different take on the stat system for litRPG story that made it interesting for me.
I only got confused 2-3 times in the beginning about who was speaking until more context was developed since a few characters sound similar to me.

Quite enjoyable and made me want to continue.

Enjoyable

I liked the concept of the book and believe it was well written, will definitely continue the series.
Narration wasn’t top tier but was not bad at all.
I would recommend this to any LitRPG fan to try out, even for the down time between releases of you favourite series

The cringe is real.

Wow. the MC is the worst.
He is the so pathetic, beta, annoying, insecure, creepy, sociopathic, stupid and selfish.

He spends so much time being a creep with a girl that is not interested in him.
He is an Incel in every sense of the word.
the text book definition of what a girl is not attracted to.
I hate him. He is the worst kind of looser and it has made this story unlistenable for me.

I have some tolerance for the litrpgs that are all too common, where the MC is a looser that isn't good with girls. authors projecting themselves as the MC.

This however is...well, Incel fan fiction.

Terrible MC personality

Could not last more then 3 chapters, the MCs personality could be compared to a human trash can.

MC is an Incel piece of trash

The world and the mechanics are good. The voice acting is fantastic, as always by Michael David Axtell. But, the protagonist of the story has no real empathy. Sure, he states what he thinks people around him are thinking or feeling, but those feel like him solving a math problem. The primary companion has a history of abuse and has asked the MC at least 7 times in this book to stop trying to sleep with her or to have a relationship with her. He absolutely ignores those requests and continues to pursue her, justifying it by saying he has feelings for her. Incel stalker POS who happens to be enabled by the post apoc setting. Also, the big bad guy is a serial rapist who broke the game and now raping powers him up instead of punishing him. Like I said, the setting and mechanics of this world have a lot of potential, but the main character and the primary antagonist are both so distasteful. I wish this horrible book wasn’t free so I could ask for my money back.

Stupid, self-absorbed MC ruins it.

I started out enjoying this book. The premise is interesting and I was captivated. Then the MC began making stupid decision after stupid decision. The part that made me stop and return it was when he meets someone who is trying to help and explain things and all he can do is rail on about how ugly she looks. After that show of misogynistic self-absorption I could no longer relate to or cheer for the MC. Completely ruined a good story with a crappy character.

Distasteful MC

Started with an interesting concept, and has a good performance by narrator. But I soon found out the MC has a pretty awful attitude towards women, so I had to stop.

Ew

MC is mind numbingly dumb, and the second he sees a woman his only thought is how unfuckable she is. Goes so far as to wish she gets raped. had to stop listening at that point as a boring story I can stand, a boring and misogynist one I cannot.

this was hard to finish

I realize the writer knows the MC is brain dead by how often kitty calls him stupid. but it's just too much I honestly didn't want to follow his journey I just hoped.he died painfully and often
