Story
On January 6, 2021, insurgents stormed the U.S. Capitol, an act of domestic terror without parallel in American history, designed to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power. In a resolution six months later, the House of Representatives called it "one of the darkest days of our democracy," and established a special committee to investigate how and why the attack happened. Celadon Books, in collaboration with The New Yorker, presents the committee's final report, the definitive account of January 6th and what led up to it.

Ascending to the leadership role of US Attorney for the Southern District, which includes Manhattan and several counties to the north, is a capstone to any legal career: it entails guiding a team of the best lawyers in America in selecting and winning cases that often have global import. Geoffrey Berman was honored to be tapped for the job by Donald Trump in 2018. The manner in which Trump had dispatched his predecessor Preet Bharara was troubling, but the institution was fabled for its independence. Surely he could manage.

Story
On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to storm the US Capitol in attempts to overturn the presidential election. It was a betrayal of our Constitution, and one of the darkest days in recent history. Yet to former congressman Adam Kinzinger it was also the culmination of a cultural and political rupture he’d long seen coming. Constructive criticism from within the Republican Party was no longer enough. It was time to stand up, even if it meant betraying his own party.

In the more than five tumultuous, paradigm-shifting years of Donald Trump’s presidency and beyond, his near-constant lying has become a fixture of political life. It is inextricably linked with how his party behaves, how the Democrats respond to it, and how he remains relevant, even after a decisive loss in 2020. Jonathan Lemire brings his connections, profile, and reportorial instincts to bear in his first book that explores how this phenomenon shapes our politics. The Big Lie is the first audiobook to examine this unprecedented and tenuous moment in our nation’s politics.

From his exile in Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump has become more extreme, vengeful, and divorced from reality than he was on January 6, 2021. His meddling damaged the GOP’s electoral prospects for third consecutive election in 2022. His legal troubles are mounting. Yet he re-emerged as the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Story
The ongoing criminal trials of Donald Trump are also a trial for the nation he once led. Can we achieve accountability for premeditated assaults on democracy and what forms should accountability take? In Network of Lies, New York Times bestselling author Brian Stelter answers these questions by weaving together private texts, unpublished emails, depositions, and other primary sources to tell the chilling story of Trump’s alleged conspiracy to steal the 2020 election, and the right-wing media’s mission to put him back in office in 2024.

Publisher's Summary
The man the New York State attorney general credited with inspiring her prosecution of Donald Trump—New York Times number one best-selling author Michael Cohen—tells the behind-the-scenes story of what can happen to you—and what really happened to him—when a president who believes himself to be above the law decides to go after his critics....
When Michael Cohen's secret payoff to porn star Stormy Daniels on behalf of Donald Trump made Cohen look like a liability to the by-then-president of the United States, the end to their decade-long relationship came swiftly—with a knock on the door from the FBI. Soon, Cohen would find himself imprisoned—even though he had plenty of evidence to show he was innocent of most of the charges. Meanwhile, with the release of the Steele Dossier, Cohen also found himself battling endless news reports citing the dossier claims that he had clandestine dealings with Russia—reports that only mounted despite his exoneration by the Mueller Report.
In a story now being echoed in recent breaking news stories about IRS persecution of other Trump foes such as former FBI head James Comey and others, Cohen details—in his inimitable blunt language, with absolutely no holds barred and naming names—his attempt to clear his name and tell the truth about Donald Trump. Chillingly, he also makes clear what happens when you try to speak truth to power, and the power knows no bounds.

Had to Be Said.
Very brave book: laying it all out there for the world to see. He has done the time, made humble amends, and is trying desperately to warn the American people if they don't listen and act, democracy and the illusion of freedom will end. Saying truth to power, especially when you (and yours) have suffered so much, is what this world needs more of. Calling it out as it is: fascism, corruption in the Justice Department, silencing, war on democracy, media meddling and muddling, as well as naming names... Mr. Cohen goes so far as to do his homework to lay out the facts and suggest a concrete path to a better future for the USA. There's just too much evidence not to believe Michael Cohen. He's been stripped of everything for his part in Trump-World and has nothing more to lose. My heart goes out to Michael Cohen, his wife, and children. All good things their way...

Fascinating, But Like Fingernails on a Chalkboard
Cohen's credibility must always be discussed. He gave up the benefit of doubt, when he did his first shady deal. Is this enlightenment or another spin? Let the listener decide.
While the content is intriguing, the delivery is outright painful. If you cannot do impersonations, do not attempt it. It was like listening to an uncle that thinks he can do impersonations butcher an otherwise interesting story.
