About this listen
Here’s what I know about Stone Zeeland:
- He’s a legendary god of guitar.
- He’s infamously bad-tempered and hates everyone.
- He especially hates journalists—which means he hates me.
I refuse to let this be a problem. I have a job to do—write about the Road Kings’ reunion tour—and I’m going to do it. I don’t care that I’m stuck crossing the country with a band that won’t talk to me or that everyone wants me to quit. This is my big break, and I’m going to take it.
But before long, Stone and I have a secret. When you’re on tour with a rock god, it’s hard to stay objective. And the more I learn about Stone, the more I see he’s nothing like I thought he’d be.
Here’s what I know about Stone Zeeland: Deep down, he has a heart. And he’s about to break mine.

Connor Crais joins the Road Kings!
It's just wrong that no one else has left a review for the wonderful audiobook on Audible. ca. The entire Road Kings Series is worth every penny in story and performance value. This is a little noticed performance in Mr Crais' catelogue, but it's hard to imagine anyone else voicing Stone Zealand, guitar God extraordinaire. Stone is a bit of a "stone"; he's closed off and grumpy....deeply emotionally scarred and lost. Crais delivers a performance that says so much more that Stone's given dialogue with a slower, sometimes stilted pace that conveys Stone's depth of emotion and unsurity of social norms. His big protective mushy center is brought out by the much younger music journalist Sienna Mapplethorpe astutely portrayed by Vanessa Edwin. Ms Edwin does a terrific job of emphasizing Sienna's music-nerd side, keen intelligence and dogged determination in face of the band's resistance to do interviews with her. Vanessa makes us like and root for a previously despised character we knew little about in the series; and that's due to Ms. Edwin's optimistic interpretation. If you too have become a fan of Connor Crais vocal timber and acting skills give this audiobook a try. I cannot see you being disappointed.
