Dr. Rogers describes how atherosclerosis destroys the arteries of the brain, and then explains how to treat and prevent atherosclerosis. Dr. Rogers has been studying how to optimize cognitive function and how to prevent dementia for more than 20 years. Dr. Rogers explains the roles of viscosity, cholesterol, saturated fat, nitric oxide, diet, exercise, temperature, and therapeutic phlebotomy in atherosclerosis.
Exercise benefits including angiogenesis, neurogenesis, BDNF, mitochondrial biogenesis, and glycogen compensation are explained. Dr. Rogers has extensive experience in cerebral angiography, CTA, MRA, arterial stenting, and body angiography. Dr. Rogers did a fellowships in interventional radiology (imaging guided surgery with several months in coronary interventions) at Harvard and in neuroradiology (with a six-month emphasis on vascular neurointerventions). Dr. Rogers did a transitional surgical internship with the emphasis on vascular surgery. Dr. Rogers peer reviews journal articles about atherosclerosis.
