Roots remains a current read for all time

I first read this book in my teens and listening to this audio version many decades later, the impact is no less greater and an emotional rollercoaster. It's is so appalling to comprehend the evil that the slave trade was. The ghost still haunts our society centuries after its so called demise. Alex Haley's works and name is imprinted in history for all time.

Unforgettable!

One of the most well researched books I've ever read! The author takes you on an emotional journey from Kinta's village in Africa to his cruel new home in America. An absolute masterpiece and must read!

What a journey!

Story from my youth brought back to life with this Audiobook. Great narration. Didn’t know or had forgotten that it was the tale of Alex Hayley’s family. Extraordinary! The final chapter bringing the whole thing to the present.

Amazing highly recommend

I remember when I was a kid our family watched the roots TV series and I remember being shocked at how people could treat others with such disregard. But also for how well the author told his families story. The performance of the narrator in this book captured that feeling again for me. Now that I'm in my 40's I can appreciate this story much better then when I was 10 but it still hits the same way. I highly recommend this book to anyone who like history and likes to learn about things from the past.
