‘Ok, lads, you have everything you need to win this game. So go out and do it ,' said the coach. Eoin's not sure if it will be so easy! He’s just started a new school … and a new sport. Everyone at school is mad about rugby, but Eoin hasn’t even held a rugby ball before! With new rules to learn, new friends to make and new teachers to get a handle on, he really doesn’t need to have Richie Duffy, the resident bully, picking him out as his latest target! And just who is this guy, Brian, who looks so out-of-date, but gives great rugby advice?©2012 Gerard Siggins (P)2019 Bolinda Publishing Fiction Horror Literature & Fiction Rugby Sports Fiction Scary Sports

What the critics say

'A brilliant story for rugby-mad youngsters ... its simple approach ensures it can be enjoyed just as much by those new to the game.' (The Sunday Independent)
'... will go down a treat with young [listeners].' (Woman's Way)
'...you certainly don’t get too many novels for children about rugby ... Ger Siggins has put that right.' (Sunday World (Ireland))

My daughter loves rugby and audiobooks so we took a chance on this series. She was not disappointed. The story of a boy who had no idea his grandfather was a famous rugby player is a bit implausible for a grown up but does not seem to phase my daughter. I guess it makes a bit of a Harry Potter type story with the boarding school and finding out one has a hidden talent. My youngest who isn’t particularly a rugby fan likes it too. They listen to it repeatedly so it’s been a good value. Since the main character arrives at the school knowing nothing about rugby there is a chance for the listener to learn more about the game as well. Definitely a winner.
