As the 2008 recession hit, Jen quickly found herself with a newly purchased home, a fading freelance business, and an alcoholic boyfriend. To avoid slipping into an even deeper depression, she took to the streets. What started as a silly assignment (running and reporting on a 5k) soon became an obsession (running 50+ miles a week training for marathons). Great story!

Loved the story, but the reader was REALLY tough to get used to listening to. For a while I thought it might have been a computer generated voice, but there was the odd inflection that indicated it was a person reading. Had to focus a little more than usual to understand the emotional content... got used to it about 3-4 chapters in.

Frustrating to listen to.

The only reason this book motivated me to run was because I became so frustrated listening to it I had to find a way to deal with it.
While I finished the book, the narrator sounded like an AI robot. I found there was little emotion, no connection. I had high hopes for the story itself but by Chapter 6 and hearing her justify another toxic relationship, I was over it. I expected the story to explain or connect her love of running to the trials she went through, but the story was not that.
