À propos de cet audio
This is a top-quality audiobook of G. K. Chesterton's biography of St. Thomas Aquinas.
Etienne Gilson, leading scholar of Aquinas, says, "I consider it as being, without possible comparison, the best book ever written on Saint Thomas. The few readers who have spent twenty or thirty years in studying St. Thomas Aquinas, and who, perhaps, have themselves published two or three volumes on the subject, cannot fail to perceive that the so-called 'wit' of Chesterton has put their scholarship to shame."

Crucifixion, the Romans believed, was the worst fate imaginable, a punishment reserved for slaves. How astonishing it was, then, that people should have come to believe that one particular victim of crucifixion - an obscure provincial by the name of Jesus - was to be worshipped as a god. Dominion explores the implications of this shocking conviction as they have reverberated throughout history.

Histoire
Few people had a more profound effect on Christianity in the 20th century than G. K. Chesterton. The Everlasting Man, written in response to an anti-Christian history of humans penned by H.G. Wells, is considered Chesterton’s masterpiece. In it, he explains Christ’s place in history, asserting that the Christian myth carries more weight than other mythologies for one simple reason—it is the truth.

Histoire
The City of God is one of the most important works of Christian history and philosophy ever written. The writings of St. Augustine are as intriguing to the casual reader as it is to Christian researchers. St. Augustine's work provides insight into Western thought and the development of Western civilizations. The City of God provides the reader with an artful contrast between earthy cities and those in heaven as a representation of the eternal struggle between good and evil. The City of God was originally penned in the early 5th century as a response to the prevalent belief that Christianity was to blame for the fall of Rome. St. Augustine is known as one of the most influential Fathers of the Catholic Church. Born November 13, 354, Augustine would eventually be recognized as a Saint by the Catholic Church, the Eastern Christian Church, and the Anglican Communion.

A great sketch of a great thinker
I love Chesterton's skills as a writer and thinker. My problem is that the beauty of the prose can get in the way of the concentration on the ideas. My dislike had to do with the economics. The Scholastics were much better on usury and trade than either Chesterton or Aquinas.

Not my style
Fascinated with Aquinas but got frustrated and completely stressed out listening to Chesterton. Made a short story way too long.
My brother loved it , just not my style. It was clearly more about Chesterton than Aquinas. Couldn’t finish , totally stressed me out... lol.
