Takes a bit to get into it. But once your in, your in!

I did not like this book at first, which was a shame because I’ve liked nearly everything else Howey has written. It was about halfway, when I started to get into it. My advice, stick with it and if you don’t like the second half. Then it’s not for you. Overall, 3.5 stars.

Riveting and well written

I loved this book. It had a great story line which took a little while to reveal itself but I was kept glued to listening. The descriptive language is exquisite. The characters were real with depth. Now I’m off to listen to the second book certain it’s another delight waiting to be experienced.

Vivid, thrilling and poetic

I Loved it! Great writing and narration. Don’t wait to check this one out. Fantastic world building with a post apocalyptic Wild West pirate swagger. Great attention to detail I appreciated as a sailor and diver. Hugh Howey’s imagery and deep character reflection are breaths of fresh air in a rollercoaster plot. Narrator did a fantastic job.
