Publisher's Summary

From the New York Times best-selling authors of the Masters of Ménage series...

They are the Perfect Gentlemen of Creighton Academy: Privileged, wealthy, powerful friends with a wild side. But a deadly scandal is about to tear down their seemingly ideal lives.

Maddox Crawford’s sudden death sends Gabriel Bond reeling. Not only is he burying his best friend, he’s cleaning up Mad’s messes, including his troubled company. Grieving and restless, Gabe escapes his worries in the arms of a beautiful stranger. But his mind-blowing one-night stand is about to come back to haunt him...

Mad groomed Everly Parker to be a rising star in the executive world. Now that he’s gone, she’s sure her job will be the next thing she mourns, especially after she ends up accidentally sleeping with her new boss. If only their night together hadn’t been so incendiary - or Gabe like a fantasy come true...

As Gabe and Everly struggle to control the heated tension between them, they discover evidence that Mad’s death was no accident. Now they must bank their smoldering passions to hunt down a murderer - because Mad had secrets that someone was willing to kill for, and Gabe or Everly could be the next target...

Pretty good but a lot of flip flopping

Let me start by saying the narrator is great...the story has promise but which adults refuse to listen to each other as much as these too - yes, it creates drama for the story line I suppose, but it's quite frustrating. The main female character, while I can appreciate her fierce independence and strong character, at times is frustratingly stubborn and ridiculously short-sighted. Again, I get that, given the situation, emotions are running high, but isn't that a good reason to realize things aren't completely as normal and maybe you need to listen more and stay together instead of always trying to run off by yourself. She, being all of 5 feet tall, and having a few self-defence lessons under her belt, thinks she can take care of herself, even when she is completely overwhelmed by the media and almost has a panic attack, but still thinks she's "just fine on her own". It's quite painful at times! The other painful part is Gabe's attitude towards women...considering this book was released in 2015, he wishes it was 1940 when he could order them about and have them listen to him; for example, he thinks he gets to deny a computer hacker her computer just because he says no! And again, she's such a "strong" woman, she allows that denial and also, the second he uses his "growly" voice, she feels "compelled to obey"...REALLY (eyebrow raised). The back and forth of the intense feelings and emotions is exhausting. It's still not a bad book and I will probably at least try the next book in the series but I feel it could be better.
