About this listen
Once Upon a Time,
There was a king who passed.
He left behind two sons,
one beloved and one outcast.
The older of the two was set to take the throne,
but before he could, he had to find a queen to call his own.
The younger one was known to be unruly and unhinged.
The chosen queen was warned to keep far away from him.
Beautiful and cunning, in the light is where she stayed.
But late at night, it was the shadowed lands in which she played.
Mistakes were made and secrets forged;
forgetting duty and her sense.
And while the new king had her hand,
her heart belonged to the scarred prince.
Scarred is a dark royal romance. It is not a retelling, and it is not fantasy. It has mature situations and themes which may be considered triggers for some. Listener discretion is advised.

Good story
Lots of unneeded talking but the story was quite good. The steamy parts were well thought out. Good for a dark romance.

some parts were boring
2.5 stars rounded up
I'm not sure how to feel about this. It wasn't good tbh. The first 60% was so BORING, and I struggled to read it. The story started to pick up around 70%, it was interesting; I liked the ending, which is the only reason I'm even considering giving this more stars.

Amazing Narrators
I can’t fully give it a four stars because I wasn’t deeply in love with it but it was so fun to listen to. I got warped into the story every time I press play. These narrators voices were amazing to listen to. Their accents were beautiful.
I loved the royalty aspect of it. All the side characters were important to the story. Our heroine, Sara B, starts off with what you think is just gonna be a naïve virgin girl. But oh my gosh does the tables turn. She is such a strong female lead. Absolutely love her as a character. As for Tristan that man was smoking hot. He brought it’s a literal definition of “I’ll literally burn down the world for you”. My gosh! If you read this book there is not a chance that you won’t fall head over heels in love with these two characters.
The plot and world building in this book was next level. I literally felt like I was living amongst these characters. The little twists and turns throughout were unexpected to me which made me enjoy the book even more.

so amazing
they say the bad buys will burn the world to save you while the good guy will burn you to save the world. Tristan is the embodiment of the man I wish to have. this is such an amazing book and the author knows how to wright a book! the performers bring this book to life!

It was okay, kinda boring for most of it but it ends well
I was a little confused when the book first started thinking it was a continuation of Hook but soon realized it’s a completely different story and it takes place in the 1910’s.
The characters unfortunately were lacklustre I didn’t really connect with them. I found myself pretty bored waiting for things to happen in the book.
It ends well but it’s not a book I would choose to read again… very meh 😒

good book, nothing fancy
As the very first audiobook I've listened to so far, it wasn't a bad story. I feel like if I read it on paper though, the writing style would have been disappointing for my personal tastes. The male narrator was quite good, though the female narrator was rather lackluster, especially when narrating male voices, and I found myself disinterested when she narrated the male lead.

An Amazing Story
4.5*
“This isn’t love. This is obsession. It’s madness. It’s salvation.”
Scarred is book 2 in the Never After series and is a dark, contemporary royalty romance following Tristan (the King's brother) and Sara B (who is getting engaged - arranged - to his brother). This book can be read as a complete standalone, the first book doesn’t have anything to do with this book.
I loved this one even more than book 1! Tristan was obsessed and crazed and I was so here for it.
I love these stories that Emily McIntire made, the plot, the romance, the characters, it was all amazing. I lovedd Tristan as a whole (definitely up there as one of my all time favorite characters) and I also loved the romance between him and Sara and how he was with her when he realized how he felt.
I listened to the audio for this one (just like I did for book 1) and I will say I wasn’t the biggest fan of the audiobook, I definitely preferred the book 1 audio over this one. But it was still fun! And it wasn’t terrible to the point I couldn’t listen to the whole book, cause I did. And I still really enjoyed it.
I highly highly recommend this book. I don’t know if any of the other books in this series can beat this book, but I’m excited to see!

The Rebel king
This book is dark and twisty but so good I enjoyed reading it Sarah and Tristan’s story is one that is unconventional but full of love and compassion and need to have what’s not yours but you take as yours but you do, the way it ends with Simon getting his rightful position on the throne and how his uncle did everything to save the people is truly beautiful.
