About this listen
Wicked meets The Little Mermaid in the captivating origin story of the sea's most iconic villainess, perfect for fans of Heartless and Dorothy Must Die.
Ever since her best friend Anna died, Evie has been an outcast in her small fishing town. Hiding her talents, mourning her loss, drowning in her guilt.
Then a girl with an uncanny resemblance to Anna appears on the shore, and the two girls catch the eyes of two charming princes. Suddenly Evie feels like she might finally have a chance at her own happily ever after.
But magic isn’t kind, and her new friend harbors secrets of her own. She can’t stay in Havnestad - or on two legs - without Evie’s help. And when Evie reaches deep into the power of her magic to save her friend’s humanity - and her prince’s heart - she discovers, too late, what she’s bargained away.

Total enjoyment
I just love this book which surprises me because I picked it up to read expecting less then what it delivers. I did not want to pit it down and didn't want it to end. I am now in search of other title similar to this on written by Sarah Henning

Didn't realize this is YA literature
I only got to chapter 5. I found the beginning confusing and basically everything that happened seemed unbelievable. The characters lack depth and individuality and I found it completely unbelievable that a 16 year old crown prince would be caught in a storm and thrown overboard and the only people who do anything to help are his two 16 year old friends. Where are the adults? Why does Iker feel the need to touch Evie's jaw so often? I read the rest of the plot online and it's vaguely interesting which is why the story gets a 2. The narrator did a good job although she made Evie's voice very annoying. I almost gave her 4 stars for that but then again, Evie is kind of annoying, so maybe she read it correctly. I really wanted to love this book but I could not.

Amazing retelling/origin story
Comparable to Heartless, this "retelling" gives you an origin story on how the sea witch became the sea witch.
This book had a couple twists and turns, most I saw coming, aside from one near the very end that had my jaw dropping!
I definitely recommend this beautiful portrayal of "The Little Mermaid's" Ursula.
