Caryn Buckner’s fondest childhood memories are all from Fallport, where she spent every summer with her beloved grandfather. Now she’s back for an extended visit. Search missions aside, his days are mostly safe, quiet, and uneventful, which is just the way he likes them. Until a strong, sassy blonde firefighter from New York City turns his world upside down—in a good way. Now he’s considering a different kind of life...one that includes the true partner he’s always wanted but never found, professionally or personally...if he can convince Caryn to stay.
In small-town Fallport, nothing’s a secret for long. Caryn’s plans for the future could have far-reaching repercussions for more than just her and Drew. Not everyone is happy about her return...and it’ll take more than her sexy ex-cop’s keen observation skills to keep her safe.

Overcoming personal demons
The best lines in this book came from a 91 year-old man and about a dog! I mean, how can you not love the phrase “no pants dance” and a dog who “takes his naps very seriously”. I have to admit that while I loved Drew right away, it took most of the book to warm up to Caryn. She just seems a little TSTL sometimes and repetitive in her thoughts and actions. Once she realized that as well, and changed it, then I really started to love her too. I was pretty far into the book before I realized we hadn’t heard from the bad guy yet, and then, there it was. It is always a treat to see where the authour will takes with her devious mind, and she was subtle, but just as scary, this time around!

Excellent book
I really enjoyed this book and series. I found that Caryn was a strong woman who had to find her inner strength. She thought she was just a firefighter, but she was so much more. Drew is a retired cop who becomes an accountant. Drew and his friends are part of a search and rescue squad. The storyline is strong and keeps you focused.

Action and Amour
Love this continuation in the series. Old characters that you have grown fond of, action in abundance and falling in love with a couple that are not spring chickens but far from being over the hill! Love the narration and perfect book to listen to time and time again.
