About this listen
International Thriller Writers Award-winner and best-selling author Brian Freeman has established himself as a master of psychological thrillers. In Season of Fear, Freeman returns to the sun-drenched beaches of Naples, Florida, and the idiosyncratic world of Detective Cab Bolton.
Attractive and popular politician Diane Fairmont is running for the Florida governorship, but a chill is cast over the campaign when she receives an anonymous note announcing the return of the assassin who killed her husband 10 years earlier. Because of complicated ties between Fairmont and his mother, movie actress Tarla Bolton, Detective Bolton is assigned to the case.
As Bolton struggles to penetrate the veil of secrecy surrounding the Fairmont campaign, he begins to realize that the death threat is not the only danger faced by the campaign staff. A desperate race against the clock ensues as Bolton tries to unlock the secrets of a poisonous conspiracy before nature provides the perfect cover for a long-dormant killer to strike again.

Good ole Brian Freeman twists by the end!
I'm used to novelist Brian Freeman's Jonathan Stride series, and at first found this protagonist, Cab Bolton, to be quite superficial. But as usual, the characters developed along with the story, with lots of twists and turns, including inter-character development that makes me want to come back for the next book in his series. One other note I'll make is that most of the Stride novels are set in nasty Minnesota winters, but this one is in Florida! Yippee! Except that it's set amidst a hurricane. :( Also, Mr. Freeman, with all your descriptions of a Corvette driving through the hurricane, this is not likely, as they are bottom-breathers. They are too low to the ground and their air-intake is low to the ground. Deeper water runs the risk of killing the engine. It is more likely that your protagonist would have stored his 'Vette safely and brought out something like his Land Rover or Hummer for the hurricane. ;)

Got lost a bit
The story was good but I got lost in the middle.. The story went all over... Got it there in the end but it was not as engaged as the detective series... Stride
