About this listen
One awkward billionaire. One failed psychic.
A tale as old as time....
Lola Pink: He schedules everything. And I mean everything.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I took this job. I thought it would be simple - pretend to be Mr. Dane Clark's personal assistant, find the missing blueprints, and get out of the Clark Castle for good. But, somehow this socially awkward, tech-genius billionaire has wormed his way into my heart. And even if we survive this mess, I'm not sure I want to leave.
Dane Clark: How do I put this? She's...pink.
So very pink. Bright and sunny and peppy. I mean, she has at least 104 pairs of sunglasses. Why? I've never seen a woman wear so many sunglasses before: red, pink, blue, green, glitter-encrusted. I don't understand it.
As for her organizational skills? Abysmal. Her attention to detail? Non-existent. Her ability to frustrate me to no end? Spot on. I never should have hired her. Lola Pink does not fit into my schedule. Nevertheless, she whirled into my life anyway; and she changed everything. Now I'm stuck trying to keep my company afloat and the two of us alive, while Lola turns my life all shades of pink.

Trying to get through…
The storyline has my attention by the narration is terrible. The ‘male voices’ are very monotone and robotic. I’ll push through but I dread the male impressions :(

Meh
The narration is difficult to listen to. The male mono tone it’s brutal. I sped it up to 1.2 and it was a bit better it was the only thing that prevented this book from being a dnf. Story is decent but it’s a difficult listen.

Seems a good story so far but narration is terrible
I’m about an hour in. Not sure I’ll be able to listen to the whole thing. The story is engaging but the narration of the characters is terrible. These books need to be narrated by those who can demonstrate different characters without them all sounding ridiculous. Another hour or so in and I can’t keep listening. On to another book.

Unbelievably dumb characters
Yes, it’s a comedy, yes characters can be portrayed as a collection of stereotypes, but there should be at least something making it a little bit believable.
I feel like my brain cells were dying a slow and painful death while I was listening to this book. I have a horrible habit of finishing books…
So I finished this one and no, it never got better. It’s almost as if Nancy Drew was mixed with Anastasia Steele and made to have a below average iq. And this is the kind of woman an autistic billionaire chooses as his love interest as she’s supposedly smarter than all the women he’d met before… ummm… how’s that even possible? And he himself is supposedly incredibly intelligent, yet he couldn’t figure out a very simple “mystery” on his own.
I don’t discriminate chic lit as a genre and I like comedic detectives, but this one is bad. Do not recommend.
Ps I think the default speed was supposed to be 1.2 as the regular speed sounds horrifically robotic. It becomes not so irritating at x1.2
