About this listen
Danger inspires fierce passion when a serial killer threatens Chicago's Ferraro crime family in this novel in Christine Feehan's New York Times best-selling series.
Vittorio Ferraro is a man whose family loyalty knows no bounds. He would die for his siblings and the people they love, but what he really wants is to start a family of his own. Deep down, Vittorio has always known finding a woman who could ride shadows would be nearly impossible, let alone one who could accept his particular needs, but he never expected to find her in the middle of a kidnapping....
Grace Murphy has always been drawn to Vittorio Ferraro - or at least to the billionaire's public bad-boy persona. Now that she's under his protection and the sole focus of his intense caring, she can't help wanting to get as close to him as possible.
But Grace knows her presence is putting the entire Ferraro family in danger. Her monster of a brother will never let her go, but Vittorio has no intention of losing the woman whose shadow matches his own....

This one was hard to get through
I have enjoyed this series although not as much as the Drake sister series but this book was hard to finish. The story had some good parts but the way Vittorio was with Grace was just not my cup of tea. It bordered on gross for me the way he kept going on about how things had to be, that the house was the way he wanted it, that Grace submit to all his choices. I think it tried to be endearing that he was aware he was demanding but even the last chapter with him coming home to her and it was along the lines of she had learned how he liked her to stay still was just nauseating to me. I love the family and characters and I want to see how this whole series ends between the families at war but if the next book is like this one I might just skip it.

Not the Best
Alpha males are well and good but Vittorio just really didn't do it for me. The "I know what you want more than you know yourself" mentality would get old really fast. I tried to tell myself it's just a story... but I did rage a little. He is overbearing, manipulative, and condescending wrapped in pretty paper. The reader is beaten over the head with "explanations" about why he's such a good guy and that he just wants to take care of her. He was just not my cup of tea.
