Publisher's Summary

Sharp Ends is the ultimate collection of award-winning tales and exclusive new short stories from the master of grimdark fantasy, Joe Abercrombie.

Violence explodes, treachery abounds, and the words are as deadly as the weapons in this rogue's gallery of sideshows, backstories, and sharp endings from the world of the First Law.

The Union army may be full of bastards, but there's only one who thinks he can save the day single-handed when the Gurkish come calling: the incomparable Colonel Sand dan Glokta.

Curnden Craw and his dozen are out to recover a mysterious item from beyond the Crinna. Only one small problem: No one seems to know what the item is.

Shevedieh, the self-styled best thief in Styria, lurches from disaster to catastrophe alongside her best friend and greatest enemy, Javre, Lioness of Hoskopp.

And after years of bloodshed, idealistic chieftain Bethod is desperate to bring peace to the North. There's only one obstacle left - his own lunatic champion, the most feared man in the North: the Bloody-Nine….

Narrator is unbelievably talented!

My first audiobook experience was Stephen Fry, who is very impressive. Then I listened to several more audiobooks and realized all narrators are not created equal, and Fry became my benchmark for great voice acting…

Dear Mr. Fry, with much love and respect, please step to the side. Stephen Pacey is amazing.

Oh. And Abercrombie’s work is fun, gritty, dark and wonderfully immersive.

There is only one book remaining of the 9/10 in this world for me to enjoy and I’m already planning on re-listening to the whole series!

A View from the Other Side

My fiancé and I have listened to all the First Law books and we are completely hooked!! We both loved the depth this anthology added to the other stories and we had fun tracing the timelines of the series. Pacey is absolutely perfect for Ambercrombie's action-packed style and humor. We really tried to drag this one out as we no longer have any books left to listen to... very much hoping the final book in the "Little Hatred" trilogy comes out soon!

Perfection

To be frank, I can be frank yes? I assume, as I am writing this with no editorial review I can bloody well be anyone I like. So, yes, I will be frank.

This, like everything from this duo of author and narrator has been bloody perfection.

Best collection of short stories!!

You definitely need to have first read/listened to the other first law books to get the full impact of these stories. They enhance the other stories in the series and add a quirk here and there. Such a great collection.

If you like the first law books, you’ll like this

Great collection of stories, that, like all of this series, leaves you eager for more. You get to know your favourite characters a little better.

A good end to the tales

I thought it was good but found myself wanting more substance for the final book of tales. Call me selfish but I know you have to be realistic!

It Just Keeps Getting Better

This is a series review for the following books:

- The Blade Itself
- Before They Are Hanged
- Last Argument Of Kings
- Best Served Cold
- The Heroes
- Red Country
- Sharp Ends (read chronologically w.r.t. the series)
- A Little Hatred
- The Trouble With Peace
- The Wisdom Of Crowds

I can say with confidence that this is among the best stories I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Author Joe Abercrombie has crafted a politically and morally intricate world where every detail, large or small, matters. Inhabiting this world are truly human characters who you'll laugh, dread, and triumph alongside in their efforts to overcome the Great Leveller's somber inevitability. Narrator Steven Pacey brings these characters to life, giving each a distinct voice and demeanor while consistently nailing the tones and puches thrown by Joe Abercrombie's writing. I hope to see the continued collaboration of this genius duo.
