creative writing class gone too far

Story is very ya and plot doesnt make sense. fl is quite annoying. Story reads like a romantic melodrama with a poorly fleshed out side plot. Very 'creative writing class went too far'.

A little slow but gets better

The storyline kinda reminds me of the classic book 1984 destroying cultures, books, art & wanting to erase certain words & create a language for all to follow. Yet these books also have superpowers.

I really don’t like that the lead female character was only 17, why make her so juvenile the narrator’s voice was so hard to listen to sometimes because she sounded like a whiny baby sometimes.

But I’m glad i stuck with the books the slowly starting to develop and you met some great characters, the third book ends on a high note but you know things have just started.

It’s a good read/listen but just not great. I will wait before purchasing the rest of the books, the only reason why I bought this one was being you got 3 books for 1 credit.

Distopian romance, give it a shot!

First: that voice actress is everything! phenomenal! so on point for this series, they could not have chosen better.

Second: it is a slow burn 1984 meet X-men. Written from the FMC pov. Super introspective, super tortured, you very much feel like you are in her head and understand completely her choices and reactions based on her knowledge. Very different from the fantasy romance and dark romance I usually read. The psychology of the characters is the most interesting part of those books.

Im disappointed

Kinda bummed I did not like this book at all. It was annoying and the strike marks and repetition 🙄🔫

That being said. I listened to the audiobook version and the voice was sooo annoying for the main character it ruined it for me. which might be why I didn’t enjoy it. So who knows 🤷🏽‍♀️

Melodramatic prose

Loved Mafi’s recent series, but I don’t recommend these earlier works. The protagonist is irritating with overly descriptive melodramatic narration, and a terrible quirk of repetition. I tried several times, but couldn’t listen to it any longer.
