I’ve traded my hand in marriage for six months to save my city. To Sebastian Armanelli: most powerful man in the city...and the hottest one-night stand of my life.
My new husband promises to be a gentleman by day and play his part. But in the dark of night, he’s commanding, ruthless. And possessive.
I’m starting to feel he can’t share what’s his. And that now includes me...his lawfully wedded wife.
USA Today best-selling author Shain Rose delivers a stand-alone arranged-marriage romance where a grumpy mafia boss will wed a free-spirited surf girl and make sparks fly.

A Mixture of Love and Frustration
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐1/2
Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
As a reader always on the lookout for new authors and intense emotional rollercoasters, I stumbled upon Shattered Vows by Shain Rose after a recommendation from a Facebook group specializing in heart-wrenching reads. This standalone arranged marriage romance, part of the Tarnished Empire series, is narrated by Mia Madison and Nelson Hobbs, adding depth to the story's complexities.
This was my first experience with Shain Rose's work, and while I appreciate discovering new voices in literature, this book left me with mixed feelings. At first, I wasn't sure if I would continue due to the constant push and pull between the characters. However, for those considering this book, I urge you to persevere as the story does pick up and deliver some compelling moments.
The plot revolves around a grumpy mafia boss, Sebastian Armanelli, and a free-spirited surf girl forced into an arranged marriage to save her city. The dynamic between the hippie mafia leader and the strong-willed heroine provided interesting contrasts. I particularly enjoyed the heroine's experienced and assertive nature; she was refreshing in her independence and maturity.
On the downside, the incessant back-and-forth in the relationship tested my patience. Sebastian's wavering decisions and his reasons for keeping distance felt contrived at times, detracting from the otherwise engaging narrative. Despite the emotional intensity promised by the synopsis, I didn't find myself reaching for the tissues as expected. This was a good story, just not the gut-wrenching emotional journey I anticipated.
The chemistry between the main characters, highlighted by their intimate moments and banter, added depth to their relationship. I appreciated the touches of humor and the hero's gradual adjustment to the heroine's unconventional lifestyle, including her affinity for plants and crystals.
In conclusion, Shattered Vows offers a blend of captivating moments and frustrations. While it didn't fully meet my expectations for a tear-jerking read, it still provided an enjoyable experience with its unique character dynamics and passionate encounters. If you enjoy a mix of love, drama, and a touch of mafia intrigue, this book might just be your cup of tea.

Good story but
Overall it was a good story and good narrators but their lack of listening to each other and was a bit draining by the end. Particularly her. One second she is telling herself she wants to stay with him and when he suggests it she gets angry and starts talking about their separation. Drove me crazy

Had potential
The story line had potential but it just stumbled along. The female narrator didn’t seem right for what the story was. If it’s free or greatly discounted sure listen but don’t waste a credit on it.
