LOVE IT!!
#Audible1 This is one of my favourite series by this author, and the narrator nails it! I wasn't able to put it down (figuratively speaking), and am on my second listen already. Jennifer Van Dyck does a great job of getting character inflection down, separating them from one another. Emotions are clear and she flips between complete angst to frustration as she flips from character to character and you know EXACTLY who is speaking. Well done, total recommend!

Paks: From Farmer to Soldier
Paks leaves her father's farm and literally chases after a career in a mercenary group. The detail of training and battles are wonderful. You really get to understand Paks' motivations and her career upswing. Not everything goes smoothly for her company and the plot takes off from there, continuing into the rest of the series. #Audible1

A favorite very well narrated
This series has been a favorite of mine since high school. The author's military background gives strength to this story, and the characters are so well built. Was awesome to have it told to me by an amazing performer. English is my 2nd language...so happy to finally know how to pronounce some names. lol.

A really entertaining story
Well written and the narrator was really good as she makes and effort to give each character their own voice.

Well loved in written and Audio form.
To be honest, I read these books when. I was quite young and loved them. The three are together in a well loved tome on my bookshelf.
I was nervous to listen to these books, some thirty years later, incase they were better through the rose colored glasses of time. I was delighted to learn that my young self had impeccable taste.
I love these books as much now as I had then. The writing is fantastic and the narration is lovely.

Average at best across the board.
Started out interesting. Ground work was laid early (first chapter) for events that are likely slated for additional books. None of them really played out in book one. Lost interest very quickly. Plot lines that ware completely obvious to those that know the genre, yet never really fleshed out for those that aren't. Just don't think I could subject myself to the second in the series only to determine if my suspicions are correct.
