AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

“This may just be the single most important book on modern Evangelicalism in recent years. It is bold, clear, and very well-researched.”—John MacArthur

"Some will quibble over details, but no one should miss the powerful warning in this book. We face a gathering storm, as Winston Churchill warned a century ago, but this time the enemy is inside as well as outside the gates. Every convinced and unashamed Evangelical should read, ponder, and pray over this important book."—Os Guinness

How deeply have leftist billionaires infiltrated America’s churches?

In Shepherds for Sale, Megan Basham of the Daily Wire documents how progressive powerbrokers—from George Soros, to the founder of eBay, to former members of the Obama administration—set out to change the American church. Their goal: to co-opt evangelicals for political purposes. She exposes:

· The left-wing billionaires, foundations, and think tanks that deliberately target Christian media, universities, megachurches, nonprofits, and even entire denominations

· The celebrity megachurch pastor who secretly encouraged a group of pastors to change their views on sexuality

· The revered Presbyterian theologian who backed a congregation rebelling against his own denomination

These are just a glimpse into the compromises and astroturf campaigns Basham uncovers. Many evangelical leaders are pushing their members to “whisper” about sexual sins, reconsider the importance of abortion, lament the effects of climate change, and repent of “perpetuating systemic racism.” And in exchange for toeing a left-wing line, many of those church leaders and institutions have received cash, career jumps, prestige, and praise. Basham brings the receipts, and names names.

A rigorously reported exposé, Shepherds for Sale is a warning of what happens when the church trusts the world’s wisdom instead of Scripture.

Worth reading!

I'm glad I read this book. It equipped me in how to approach and answer controversial topics in the culture and church today. As a Christian, the bible should be the biggest authority.

An honest and true unapologetic look at evangelicals today. Megan takes the gloves off pulls no punches.

Megan Basham’s *Shepherds for Sale* delivers a provocative critique of the modern evangelical landscape, arguing that many of its leaders have strayed from biblical truth in favor of a politically left-leaning agenda. Basham’s book is unapologetically bold in its assertions and makes for a compelling read for those who are concerned about the direction of the evangelical movement.

Basham's central thesis is that a significant number of evangelical leaders have compromised their religious convictions, aligning themselves with progressive ideologies that are, in her view, antithetical to core Christian beliefs. The book meticulously outlines how she believes this shift has taken place, tracing the influence of cultural and political pressures on church leadership.

Her analysis is rooted in a deep concern for the spiritual integrity of the church, and she argues with a sense of urgency that the evangelical community is at a crossroads. Basham’s approach is thorough, as she not only critiques individual leaders and organizations but also delves into broader cultural trends that she believes have contributed to this shift. Her arguments are well-researched, with numerous references to speeches, writings, and public statements from evangelical figures.

Basham’s tone is direct and, at times, confrontational. This will resonate with listeners who share her concerns and make those who don’t uncomfortable.

**Impact on the Evangelical Community:**
*Shepherds for Sale* is likely to spark significant debate within evangelical circles. Basham’s willingness to name names and call out what she perceives as compromises on biblical truth will undoubtedly lead to discussions—both supportive and critical—among church members and leaders. For those who feel that the church is being led astray by political correctness or progressive ideologies, this book will serve as a rallying cry. On the other hand, those who see value in engaging with contemporary social issues from a Christian perspective may find Basham’s critique overly harsh and lacking in nuance.

**Critique:**
While Basham’s passion for protecting the integrity of the church is evident, the book’s confrontational tone might limit its

*Shepherds for Sale* is a powerful and thought-provoking audio book. It is a wake-up call for Christians who believe that the church should remain steadfast in its adherence to biblical truth, even in the face of cultural and political pressure. However, its polarizing nature may limit its appeal to a broader audience, particularly those who are open to engaging with progressive ideas within a Christian framework.

Whether you agree with Basham’s conclusions or not, *Shepherds for Sale* is an important contribution to the ongoing conversation about the future of evangelicalism in America. It challenges readers to critically examine the intersection of faith and politics.

Very articulate

Megan has an easy listening voice. The topic is disturbing to a Bible reading Christian, but a very necessary critique to help discern the current climate of the world wide Church. Well done.
