About this listen

The first sexy, captivating, standalone novel in the brand-new Fight for Me series from NYT and USA Today best-selling author A.L. Jackson....

Rex Gunner. As bitter as he is beautiful.

The owner of the largest construction company in Gingham Lakes has been burned one too many times. His wife leaving him to raise their daughter was the last blow this single dad could take. The only woman he'll let into his heart is his little girl.

Rynna Dayne. As vulnerable as she is tempting.

She ran from Gingham Lakes when she was 17. She swore to herself she would never return. Then her grandmother passed away and left her the deed to the diner that she once loved.

When Rex meets his new neighbor, he knows he's in trouble.

She's gorgeous and sweet and everything he can't trust.

Until she becomes the one thing he can't resist.

One kiss sends them tumbling toward ecstasy.

But in a town this size, pasts are bound to collide. Caught in a web of lies, betrayal, and disloyalty, Rex must make a choice.

Will he hide behind his walls or will he take the chance....

A struggle

I like the story, the idea of second chances and how quickly the characters found each other. However, I struggled with how pathetic they could be at times. Rinna was told time and time again by her grandmother to trust her instincts, and the author and Rinner reminded us of that again and again throughout the book, yet Rinna never did. I got so frustrated with her character there were times I wanted to either completely stop listening, or skip ahead--mostly when she was flashing back to her youth, but even as an adult, she blatantly ignored every sign. Similarly, although less so than Rinna, Rex sometimes needed to suck it up. I get we're humans and want to do the right thing, want to be accepted, but their own (generally needy) decisions placed them right where they ended up. I saw the plot twist coming, the whole way through the book; there was no surprise with the appearance of the antagonists and how they were intertwined with both lead characters.

underwhelming and a chore

This was not fun to listen to at all. There were so many moments that were drawn out too damn much and the descriptions were boarding on unnecessary and uninspired. It felt slow, like nothing was actually fucking happening. Only got to chapter 10, the duel narration made me feel so type of way... it wasn't cohesive. I hope I explained this properly. Listen only of you have nothing better truly.

I’ll Show You the Way Rex!

Holy hell..first of all, how sexy is Zachary Webber’s voice?! I wish he narrated all 3 of the heroes. Second of all..wow..this story brought a roller-coaster of emotions through me. I loved Frankie Lee..she was just the cutest and who wouldn’t have the feels for this father-daughter duo??? A definite must-read (or in this case, a must-listen)! A great book by A.L. Jackson! #audible1

I loved this book!

I really liked this book. I found that the pace kept me interested from start to finish. I felt that the reason she left town could have been stronger but they looped the plot to that in later that had me give a little on that. Frankie lee was awesome, she made me giggle. Well down!!

Love the story

This is not the first series I’ve listened to from A.L. Jackson and I have loved them all. I can’t wait to start the next book and see what happens next.

Narrator Awful! Story Great!

Enjoyed the story, it was hard to put down but the queer male voice narrating a 5 year girl as well as Ryna on and off made me cringe!!
