Publisher's Summary
In the eastern reaches of the Thames lies the Hispaniola, an inn kept by Jim Hawkins and his son. Late one night, a mysterious girl named Natty arrives on the river with a request for Jim from her father - Long John Silver. Aged and weak, but still possessing a strange power, the pirate proposes Jim and Natty sail to Treasure Island in search of Captain Flint's hidden bounty. But the thrill of the ocean odyssey gives way to terror as the Nightingale reaches its destination, for it seems Treasure Island is not as uninhabited as it once was....
Silver is a worthy sequel to Treasure Island and a work of extraordinary authenticity and imaginative power from one of England's greatest writers.

Worst ending ever
David Tennant I’d genius at bringing this tall tale to life. I love it right up to the abrupt ending. I immediately went looking for the next book in the series but none to be found. This book was like driving a sports car very fast into a brick wall. Great ride terrible ending

Pieces of seven
I was looking for words to describe this novel, the one which finally came to mind was “throwaway.”
Characters are introduced, given significance, and then discarded. Events rise to a climax, then fall flat. Villains are disposed of in a few sentences.
All this is very realistic, but is quite disappointing in a book which rides the coattails of an iconic children’s novel.
The tone is right: it evokes Stevenson’s prose perfectly. The plotting is wrong. Something feels missing, and I don’t think it will be found in the next book. I expected more.
