About this listen
Love kills kingdoms …
Back in Grim’s castle on Nightshade, Isla is reeling in the wake of a brutal battle and the devastating truths it exposed. Her future—and the fate of the world—now hinge on a heart split in two.
Past Isla, who fell in love with the ruler of Nightshade, fights to resist feelings she considers treasonous. The Isla of the present, who has seen the ruin her powers can cause, will do anything to save Lightlark and its king.
As the line between enemy and friend is tested, Isla is more desperate than ever to understand the oracle’s final prophecy and change her heartrending fate. But a storm is coming. And with it, a long-buried evil greater than anything the realms have faced before.
With the clock ticking on her destiny and the survival of two warring kingdoms hinging on her own shattered heart, Isla Crown will either save the world—or destroy it.

Isla is the problem
I was so happy when Oro was dying, then so utterly disappointed when he didn’t. This girl needs to make up her damn mind. What does he have to offer? Bland, that’s what. Grim on the other hand? Carrying this series on his emo shoulders. Justice for Grim.

Isla gives us whiplash
If you came for Grim this novel does him justice. Oro takes a backseat in this story but his emotions and pain in not be able to stop loving Isla comes through. Isla sadly comes across as the most selfish, deceitful character and she doesn’t deserve the love and constant acceptance of her poor behaviour by either of these two loyal Kings. I hope the next novel shows some major character growth on her side as she was frankly one of the most unlikable FMCs of all 2024 Romantic Fantasies I read this year and I’ve read many! Maybe it’s Alex’s intention for us to hate her? The back and forth and her teasing and taunting both Oro and Grim really broke my heart for both of them. On the performance side the female narrator voice impression was so awful of Grim I had to start and stop this audio many times as it was distracting. Alex Aster why was there not a budget for male duet/trio style for this? Please don’t compromise next time you deserve your work to be reflected with top talent.
