About this listen

When a marriage proposal appears imminent for the beautiful - if rebellious - Lady Rose Summer, her father wants to know if her suitor's intentions are honorable. He calls on Captain Harry Cathcart, the impoverished younger son of a baron, to do some intelligence work on the would-be fiance, Sir Geoffrey Blandon.

But when Harry is caught between his client's desire for discretion and his suspicion that murder may have been committed, he enlists the help of Superintendent Kerridge of the Scotland Yard and Lady Rose herself.

Fun Edwardian Mystery

This is a new series for me and I am looking forward to the second book. Interesting characters and strong-minded female leads. Great narrator.

Enjoyable but Slow

I’m an English Mystery Addict! So said, this fact is definitely determined by the amount of haste taken to “Pick the book up again “😳😳
The narrator did a super job but the Rose Wimpering Voice was a bit OTT!!
My other comment would be it took too long to get to the point ie “The Plot”
I’ve just finished it and will look forward to the 2nd Book 🤓🤓

A tale of Snobbery all right

I really enjoyed this book. Davina Porter always makes a story a joy to listen to.

Not a fan...

I typically love cozy mysteries, but not this one. Snobbery at it’s finest. Rose definitely comes across as 18, being immature and knowing nothing. Being one of the main characters Rose ruined the book for me.

The Captain, his driver and Daisy were the only remotely likeable characters.

The narrator was the best part of this book.
