Publisher's Summary

During a rare white Christmas at Brambledean Court, the widow Elizabeth, Lady Overfield, defies convention by falling in love with a younger man in the latest novel in the Westcott series.

After her husband's passing, Elizabeth Overfield decides she must enter into another suitable marriage. That, however, is the last thing on her mind when she meets Colin Handrich, Lord Hodges, at the Westcott Christmas house party. She simply enjoys his company as they listen to carolers on Christmas Eve, walk home from church together on Christmas morning, and engage in a spirited snowball fight in the afternoon.

Both are surprised when their sled topples them into a snowbank and they end up sharing an unexpected kiss. They know there is no question of any relationship between them, for she is nine years older than him.

They return to London the following Season, both committed to finding other more suitable matches. Still, they agree to share one waltz at each ball they attend. This innocuous agreement proves to be one that will topple their worlds, as each dance steadily ensnares them in a romance that forces the two to question what they are willing to sacrifice for love....

Fantastic Writing

Charming, and something that we all need just to get away and forget about the realities of the times we live in now. I have to say though; despite the Pomp and ceremony, especially perhaps, typical of the nobility of the time, Mary has an incredible way of writing that makes you feel like she’s still connecting the stories to a healthy and happy mindset. We are very blessed to have writing like this. I’d love to see movies made out of this writing. All of her books are fabulous. There is so much to be valued here, lovely storylines and I find that the novels are inspiring and filled with hope.

Annoying

Lizzie has been a champion wing woman since the beginning of the series and I have loved her since the beginning. I was so excited to finally get to her love story. But I am struggling to keep listening. She is just infuriating. I would understand her fear of other man, but her logic during the first half of the book is just plain dumb and frustrating. Her story had so much potential and I hate what the author did of it.

Terrible story.

I have really enjoyed all the other books in this series. Elizabeth has been a favorite character of mine throughout and wow this book was disappointing. No chemistry or really connection between these two. The story feels overly long and somewhat repetitive after a while.
