About this listen
Lucky Tyler Holloway has never felt particularly lucky. Frankly, he's as regular as can be. He works construction with his brothers, loves his small-town life, and shares a close bond with his family, especially his grandmother. Okay, so maybe he has a few secrets in his closet, like his bisexuality...and that other thing he doesn't talk about...
Grayson "Saint" St. Claire has it all: a dream job in LA, money, freedom. Saint doesn't do attachments, which is just the way he likes it. Still, he'd be lying if he didn't admit he missed his deceased parents, the only family he had...until he gets an email from some guy named Tyler, revealing the existence of a grandmother he's never met, prompting Saint to drop everything and drive across the country.
Saint and Tyler couldn't be more different. Tyler dislikes Saint on sight, but there's something about Tyler that gets under Saint's skin. It's not until they get to know one another that everything begins to change for the better. But the Holloways and St. Claires have secrets, their pasts tied together in tragic ways. With the odds stacked against them, Saint and Tyler have to face the fact that love alone might not be enough....
Contains mature themes.

sweet romance
This book was sweet. Not sweet and sappy where there's a lot of heartbreak and then you rejoice at the end when they get together, it was more of just a steady sweetness of one person finding themselves or becoming more comfortable in their skin and finding that perfect person for them. There wasn't any angst, more of just small conflict or snarkiness between the two main characters, but it was resolved as they got to know each other and with communication. I really enjoyed this book. Not sure if I'm going to read part 2, because I'm assuming that's gonna include all the struggles, and I'd rather not have my thoughts of this couple come crashing down, but this book was well written, and it was well narrated.

Loved the story and an ok performance
#enemiestolovers #slowburn #oppositesattract #agegap #interraciallovers #citymeetscountry
Both men are bisexual though Saint is from the city and is out and proud and Lucky is still in the closet fearing his judgey small town.
They get off to a rough start when Lucky has all this contempt for Saint for no reason which I didnt really understand but it made for a slow burn. As they get to know each other and Saint hears Lucky is a m/m virgin, he offers to be his practice toy. Casual no feelings but they are just so perfect for each other. Opposites attract in the best way no matter how much they try to resist it. They have beautiful and believable chemistry. Also Lucky has a kinky secret that I really loved. In addition to the romance I loved Saints Grandmothers story which was his reason for visiting. It was interesting and heartfelt. I loved this beautiful story and will definitely be listening to it again.
As for the performance I liked how he did Alice and nannas voice. The higher choppy tone worked for the old ladies. His narration of the plot lines and His Lucky voice were basically the same and it worked for a white county boy and his Saint voice was ok for a city born African American from what I could tell. But when he played Sienna, Luckys mom and other younger female voices the screechy tone he uses is kind of unbearable. His voice is monotone at times but I could hear the emotions stand out when need be. Overall an ok performance.
