About this listen
I remember sneaking over to his house in the middle of the night. And the secret love we used to share. That was back in high school. I never expected to see him again…
Life isn’t easy for a gay teenager living in the nineties. Ben thought coming out was his best chance of finding love. Instead he ended up lonelier than before. After a not-so-accidental collision with Tim, an attractive athlete and artist, Ben is convinced that he’s met his soulmate. Their budding romance is soon tested by spreading rumors, the danger increasing along with their passion for each other until it pushes them to the breaking point.
Years later, Ben is attending college in a different state while dating a truly wonderful guy. Everything is perfect until the day Tim shows up unexpectedly. Overwhelmed by old feelings, Ben is forced to reconcile the summer-filled dreams of his past with the complexities of his new adult life... But some love stories are impossible to forget.
Each Something Like...book follows a different LGBTQ character on their quest for love. Central to the plot is the troubled relationship between Ben and Tim, former high school sweethearts who continue to meet over the years, their chemistry changing with each encounter. Surrounding them are friends and enemies, each with their own story, resulting in an immersive universe filled with first times and second chances. While the series doesn't shy away from sex, it also focuses deeply on emotion, promising an experience that will stay with you long after the final tick.

Story
I love him. And I’m pretty sure he loves me back...even though he’s straight. When I first met Carter King, I knew he was something special. I imagined us being together, and we are, but only as friends. Best friends! I’m trying to be cool with that, even though I know he has secrets, and there have definitely been mixed signals. I don’t want a crush to ruin what we already have. Then again, if there’s any chance that we can be together, it’s worth the risk, because Carter could be the love of my life. Or he might be the boy who breaks my heart.

If only he didn’t have to deal with Clay Parker, the infuriatingly smug data analyst who gets under Thom’s skin like it’s his job. In the midst of one of their heated and very public arguments, a journalist snaps a photo, but the image makes it look like they’re kissing. Back and Forth Love...
I Enjoyed listening to this book very much, the story line was long and at first I feared Id tire of such a long book, I normally like books around 6-7 hours for a weeks worth of listening, But this story help me from start to finish, I couldn't stop listening until it was over. The Troubles and limits these boys go through, and then as heartbreak destroys one relationship...its emotional, and as a Straight Women, the story is so compelling to listen to. I think the issues same sex couple deal with was portrayed well in this book and many will find it a good story.

A excellent coming of age of book
This was a great book, whether you can appreciate the struggles of same relationships or not, this book captures the struggles of young adult relationships. It's twists, tears and smiles make it one of the best stories I listened to. There are times I caught myself giggling, smiling like a idiot and getting misty eyed while listening.
Kevin Free was a great narrator, giving distinct voices to each other character and smoothly reading some of the more passionate scenes without any awkwardness. Will definitely check out it's sequels.

A story to remind you of love
This was everything I knew it would be, and sometimes exactly what I wished it wouldn't be. A love story that took you on the roller coaster the synopsis promised. This was a great story that I would recommend to every gay or bisexual guy.

It was simply amazing
What a story! Heartfelt and full of emotions. I could see myself in the characters. I kept wanting more and yelling at my Alexa when something I didn't want to happen, happens! haha!
The narration was a little difficult to follow, but it was pretty decent.
I highly recommend this book.

Roller Coaster of Emotions
I was recommended this book by a good friend of mine. Once I got past the jokes about how similar him and the main character (Ben) are, I fell in love!
This story will tug at every heart string imaginable. Throwing your heart and your hormones through this roller coaster. One minute you will be in list, turned on to the max, the next you are sobbing.
I am so happy to continue reading the other books in this series <3
