Publisher's Summary

This is the story of James Leininger, who---a little more than two weeks after his second birthday---began having blood-curdling nightmares that just would not stop. When James began screaming out recurring phrases like "Plane on fire! Little man can't get out!" the Leiningers finally admitted that they truly had to take notice. When details of planes and war tragedies no two-year-old boy could know continued---even in stark daylight---Bruce and Andrea Leininger began to realize that this was an incredible situation.

Soul Survivor is the story of how the Leiningers pieced together what their son was communicating and eventually discovered that he was reliving the past life of World War II fighter pilot James Huston. As Bruce Leininger struggled to understand what was happening to his son, he also uncovered details of James Huston's life---and death---as a pilot that will fascinate military buffs everywhere.

In Soul Survivor, we are taken for a gripping ride as the Leiningers' belief system is shaken to the core and both of these families come to know a little boy who, against all odds and even in the face of true skeptics, harbors the soul of this man who died long ago.

What the critics say

"I believe with all my heart that James Leininger is James Huston again. His story is riveting." (Concetta Bertoldi, author of the New York Times bestseller Do Dead People Watch You in the Shower?)

Editorial Review

Recurring dreams, improbable details, a deep connection to history. Soul Survivor challenges common conceptions of life, death, and memory in a true story that must be heard to be believed.

At age two, James Leininger began having nightmares reliving horrific events he couldn’t possibly have experienced. Or could he? In Soul Survivor, Bruce and Andrea Leininger let listeners in on their incredible story and belief that their young son is a former World War II fighter pilot—or at least, holds the memories of that pilot within him.

From the very start, the tale challenges conventional understandings of life and memory, and floats the idea of reincarnation. Though originally sceptical, the Leiningers begin to piece together details from their son’s dreams and recollections with facts and artifacts from World War II history books and museums. And the parallels are uncanny. What at first seemed like their son’s simple affinity for airplanes quickly became the basis for a much deeper understanding, leading the Leiningers down an unfamiliar path of spiritual questions and amazing discoveries.

This audiobook merges case studies with history, spiritual understandings, and gripping narrative to present a truly amazing story. Whether you are a believer in reincarnation or a sceptic, the tale of James Leininger is a fascinating one. It takes a deeper look into how memories may be passed on after we die and the effects this reincarnated self can have on a young child.

Paul Boehmer lends his voice to this gripping story with assurance and the right tone of awe. Listeners will quickly be pulled in by the wonder of young James’s story. Soul Survivor will take you on an eye-opening journey that just might rock the foundations of everything you thought you believed about life and death.
