Publisher's Summary

A deathbed promise.

Arlyn's quest is simple: Find her father and let him know her mother is dead. After all, Arlyn had promised her mother she'd go. The problem? Her father's people are myths and legends, and he doesn't even live on Earth. But despite a long journey through the mysterious mists of the Veil, finding him turns out to be the easy part.

A dream long buried.

After 500 years, Kai has given up on finding his soulbonded. So when he stumbles across Arlyn after returning from his latest mission and recognizes her as his mate, Kai starts their bond in haste. But he never could have imagined that his bonded is his best friend's newfound daughter. Whoops.

A hidden conspiracy sparked to life.

Though the sight of Kai makes Arlyn's heart pound, she isn't sure she can forgive him for starting their bond without her permission. But her love life is the least of her problems. Her father is an elf lord, and his sudden acknowledgment of a half-human heir reignites the same conspiracy that took him away from her mother in the first place. Now Arlyn and her family must face iron-wielding assassins, bigotry, and her newly awakened magical abilities if they hope to come through in one piece.

Arlyn thought she would return to Earth after meeting her father. Now she must fight to save the family she never knew she wanted.

Loved the story

Loved the story line but the narrators made it hard to get through, kind of disappointing

A good read

I really liked the story. It had some different elements in it that was different then your normal fantasy story and would love to learn more about the world’s lore. I definitely want the physical copy.

For the Audio aspect, I think it could have been. If they would have the female lines read by the female narrator and the male lines read by the male narrator it would have provided a whole different tone.
Otherwise I don’t understand on why the have two different readers in the first place when they just swap in the middle of the chapter.

Enjoyed but the flow was off

I really enjoyed the story and am excited to find out what happens next! BUT i found the male narrator pretty monotone and almost robotic. Also sometimes the transition between points of view were very abrupt without much pause to let you know it was switching.
Over all the performance wasn't unbearable and the story is great!

It's Okay

This is free for a reason, it's not a bad time but I must admit I have read better (and worse) things on wattpad. The writting is fine, the world is dreamy and compeling but the characters feel very simple minded.
The voice acting is actually pretty good, I really liked Stephan Rudnicki's performance but I must say... Gabrielle De Cuir's voice for the main character was so obnoxious and a high contrast with her smooth narration, it bothered me the whole time and never got better. This made it a book both unsuitable to fall asleep or stay awake, as the rest of the narration and voices were really nice and soothing. A shame.

A breathtaking beginning to the saga

When I first started listening to this book, I was expecting fluffy fantasy presented by two of my favourite narrators. I was quickly disabused of that notion!
The characters, the details of setting and culture, the subtleties of the relationships - all these make “Soulbound” an utterly spellbinding experience. I look forward to savouring the rest of the series (honestly, I can’t wait to find out what happens next!).

Good story line, terrible reading.

The storyline was getting there and kept me intrigued. The whininess and immaturity of the main character is overwhelming at times. The voices used are terrible and the acting worse. The man’s voice is super monotone and hard to be captivated by. The woman’s voice is okay at times but when “acting out” the main character she’s whining, irritating and makes your eyes roll. I’m glad I didn’t pay for this listening as I would have been upset. However, the story line does make me curious for book two if I can power through the lacklustre voicing.

Well narrated and an enjoyable listen

Some of the writing is a little clunky and there’s excessive focus on the love story (to predictable ends) but it’s a solid and interesting exploration of.elves and an interesting introduction to the intricate politics of a wider universe
