Padawan Reath Silas is being sent from the cosmopolitan galactic capital of Coruscant to the undeveloped frontier - and he couldn't be less happy about it. But when the ship he's traveling on is knocked out of hyperspace in a galactic-wide disaster, Reath finds himself at the center of the action. The Jedi and their traveling companions find refuge on what appears to be an abandoned space station. But then strange things start happening, leading the Jedi to investigate the truth behind the mysterious station, a truth that could end in tragedy....

Amazing
Absolutely amazing addition to the High Republic. Each novel expands on the Jedi further and brings loveable and interesting characters. Ill be honest I am hoping to see more of Geode, his character was oddly interesting and I wouldn't mind to see his character (and the whole crew of the vessel) coming back in future High Republic content.

wonderful voice acting
Leon Dejossi sounded just like Matthew McConaughey, just the way I imagined it. Nan sounded like a Muppet, that made it weird

Good, though not outstanding read
I preferred the pace of this more than the first book in the high Republic era. Some new, interesting characters to add to the mix. Overall interesting story... Not too fond of the flashback parts for this one as it fell short; but All in all a good listen

Getting better
It wasn't as difficult to finish as the first book of the series and was certainly more cohesively written. While the story was well written, there were at times it slipped out off Star Wars. I don't know how to describe it other than to say that certain concepts were described in a high fantasy lexicon (words like black magic, cursed, hell, damned, breathing mask instead of rebreather, ect.). This was infrequent for the most part but really pull you out of the Star Wars state of mind and made the story feel like it was translated into Star Wars as opposed to being written within the Star Wars universe. It also followed Disney's reluctance to write anything significantly impactful or important to the Star Wars universe but at least the story was entertaining enough with unique characters such as Geode.

it was okay at best.
It didn't feel like a Star Wars story. I really hope they do a better job with future Star Wars novels.

Good for Jedi-lovers
Personally, I really liked it for the dive into Jedi psychology, things we don't know about the order and different insight from different jedis.
Story-wise though, its much more Linear than Light of the Jedi, but still nicely ties with it imo.

This book has everything your looking for in a Star Wars story. All of the Characters were built beautifully and I am hoping for more stories following these characters.

Another great read in The High Republic series!
I consider myself a Star Wars super nerd, this being the 81st Star Wars book I've read... and I have thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 books of this new era. The story was engaging, the characters were well rounded and had interesting backgrounds and development as well. The Jedi do seem to understand the force differently in this series, but it is an era in the past, so I think it will fits within the Star Wars universe. They are building up the conflict well, although there is only so much an enemy can say, when they say they will destroy the Jedi... but obviously they haven't since this is a prequel lol
the story was great, the narration was great, the cool Jedi sequences were also great, I don't see any reason why a Star Wars fan shouldn't get into this series and enjoy it!
