About this listen

Twenty-one years after the Battle of Endor, the New Republic will face an even darker enemy....

More than two decades after the heroes of the Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star and broke the power of the Emperor, the New Republic has struggled to maintain peace and prosperity among the peoples of the galaxy. But unrest has begun to spread and threatens to destroy the Republic’s tenuous reign.

Into this volatile atmosphere comes Nom Anor, a charismatic firebrand who heats passions to the boiling point, sowing seeds of dissent for his own dark motives. And as the Jedi and the Republic focus on internal struggles, a new threat surfaces from beyond the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim - an enemy bearing weapons and technology unlike anything New Republic scientists have ever seen.

Suddenly, Luke Skywalker; his wife, Mara; Han Solo; Leia Organa Solo; and Chewbacca - along with the Solo children - are thrust again into battle, to defend the freedom so many have fought and died for. But this time, the power of the Force itself may not be enough....

Wished it was unabridged

I could not find an unabridged version, so I settled on this abridged..,a bit disappointed, but I brought that upon myself. In any case, not bad. I will continue and probably do the rest of the audio abridged NJL as well, but will probably go back and read the actual novels again to see what was missed.

Great Story - BRUTAL audio

I guess I’ve been spoiled with Jonathan Davis and Marc Thompson audiobooks on Star Wars.. this audio is tragic unfortunately. No way to distinguish between characters, no flow. I was going to push through the rest of the books in this series but I think I’ll wait as long as it takes for them to re-do these.. bad bad performances. C3PO sounds like Apu from the Simpsons.

Cool story though

Amazing Story

This story must been the continuation of the original trilogy of Star Wars. Amazingly created and performed.

Intense

Great story filled with mystery, tension, tragedy and...well I wouldn't want to spoil it. However, two MAJOR complaints are the narrarating and the fact it's abridged. The voice acting was TERRIBLE. The story was great, but too short.

Great book. Terrible audio.

The SFX are too loud and voices are inconsistent or indistinguishable from character to character. Please get a revamped version of this whole series! Can’t say enough good things about the book. But this audio is a crushing disappointment.

Poor FX and Narration

It’s tough going from the Random House Audio series read by Marc Thompson to this. The narration can be inconsistent, especially for voice overs. FX becomes way too loud over action scenes. It feels very rushed alongside a significant lack of interest or passion.
