About this listen
I've known one thing all my life: I belong to the Fortingall Wood. I was born there and I'll die there. It's in my blood.
When slavers of the Hand take my brother, sister, and our entire village I discover nothing I know is true - not my place as a ranger or even who I am.
With the help of the Sirens, ancient warriors imbued by a goddess, I may have a shot at saving my family. But the Sirens have trouble of their own. If I want their help I'll have to free each woman from her magic-induced exile.
First, I have to find them.
But beyond the Wood is a land fallen into darkness. I'm too far out to go home and too green to fight what's coming.
Even with the Sirens by my side, life is a choice between my family or my kingdom.
Is one worth saving without the other?
Contains mature themes.

Wow that was great!
The first couple chapters were kinda slow and I almost gave up, but I’m really happy I didn’t!
Once it really got started it was great, there’s so many cool magical characters and some good world building. I loved the spice in this book it was a great surprise!
Action, adventure, romance, fantasy it has a little of everything!

A surprising good read, and I recommend it on the merits of the story alone... the narrator had some issues.
Two small issues:
The biggest one is the narration... Other than the heavy mouth breathing, but had the horrible tenacity to be off pace. Better audio equipment and/ or a few lessons on how to pace and adjust your respiratory pacing.
The second issue, but much of one is as follows. Be warned ⚠️ There is a bit of some good old fashioned wheat grinding grinding going on, though it does stretch a bit... I've always liked the option to skip to the end of the characters+ (there's is the slightest suggestion of a harem book in the near future of this series, the foreshadowed was just a bit heavy handed 🔨). I'm looking forward to the next book.
