Like Foxcatcher meets The Art of Fielding, Stephen Florida follows a college wrestler in his senior season, when every practice, every match, is a step closer to greatness and a step further from sanity. Profane, manic, and tipping into the uncanny, Stephen Florida a story of loneliness, obsession, and the drive to leave a mark.

Stephen is a senior collegiate wrestler obsessed with winning a Division IV Championship. As he tries to navigate graduation and wrestling, he finds love, must overcome major adversity…and along the way, goes absolutely insane.

This book is very creative and absurd, but it’s also long-winded and at times, pretentious. The ending is frustrating but smartly done. Florida is like a grappling Holden Caulfied, in that he’s supposed to be an angsty anti-hero but in reality, he’s just a colossal prick that you somehow want to see succeed despite his myriad of glaring flaws.

Will Damron is an absolutely spectacular narrator and keeps you engaged from start to finish.

Great Narration; Odd Story
