About this listen

A college hockey romance from bestselling authors S. Massery and S.J. Sylvis.

Sticks and stones may break our bones…Hockey is my life.

After Wren Davis puts my dreams of the NHL in jeopardy, I vow to make her life hell if she ever comes near me again.

But she’s my best friend’s foster sister, and even though they don’t live together anymore, their bond is still tight, which makes avoiding each other extra difficult.

Especially when I show up at Shadow Valley University and learn my new room comes with an unwelcome addition: Wren Davis.

As much as I try to make her life hell, she gives it right back, until she’s not just under my skin but constantly on my mind.

But some things can’t be forgiven, and fraternizing with the enemy is the last thing either of us want.

So obsessed

January 26, 2024
OMG this book had me hooked from the beginning! It is the first book I've read/listened to from either author and I will now be going back to their other work! This was a delicious, spicy, enemies to lovers that I just devoured! I love enemies to lovers in general, but especially the ones where they are truly enemies to begin with (not the enemies where one is secretly in love). The angst, tension and pure animosity between these two just really took the story to another level. Wren (or Sticks, as is her nickname), did something truly awful to Stone in their past, so his hatred towards her is well earned and deserved. But when these two are forced to live together and interact with one another, that hatred slowly begins to break down. Stone wants to hate her for what she did, but her vulnerability makes him see that she is so much more than her past transgressions. Wren has always had her guard up and has difficulty letting people in because of her childhood, but Stone's determination to be there for her really helps to lower her walls and let him in. These two are a "burn down the world for you" kind of love and I am here for it.
Alex and Kiera both did amazing jobs narrating this story. You really got Stone's possessiveness and determination through Alex's performance, and Kiera really brought Wren's vulnerability and sassiness to life

Alex Kydd needs to stop chuckling

I'm a huge fan of S Massery's other works, but this fell a bit short for me. The story itself was a little silly, though I think if I read it rather than listened I may have had a better experience. Why? Because Alex Kydd is a freaking chuckle monster throughout this and it became so irritating how often he did it.
